Posted December 19, 2009 Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 NYMPHOIDS AQUATICA Commonly known as banana plant I dont beleive it is the actual species that we have in NZ I am thinking Nymphoides indica, anyone have any thoughts? my "banana plant flowers are the same as Nymphoides indica and the plant was purchased from two places. yet remains identical. Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 this is a crappy pic when was in my display tank. send up leaves that have purple and green they get bigger you cut them then they form new roots and become a plant. My plant doesn't look like the Nymphoides aquatica photos on the web and looks more like Nymphoides indica . Mind you it doesn't look like your pic either it only has floating leaves.... alanmin4304 Posted December 19, 2009 Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 The picture is of the submersed juvenile form but will put up full sized floating leaves in time. They need a very rich media to develop the bananas. The flowers look as though they are different on indica and aquatica so it may mean checking the flowers. Posted December 19, 2009 Author Report Share Posted December 19, 2009 yea the leaves on the my mature plant hit the surface then can grow up to 30cm in diameter then it sends out identicle flowers to the indica? have had it purely in daltons and never grew bananas?
