ctsniper86
I have a 2 foot glass tank and I can't decide what to put in it. I'm not exactly new to fishkeeping, had two 4 foot tanks when I was single and had disposable income. Now i'm not single and don't have excess money. Any suggestions for tank mates etc would be awesome. Cheers CT
Zev
What sort of fish do you fancy putting in there? A group of all the same, or a mixed community, or a biotope. I would say killies, but then I am biased
ctsniper86
I've had a community before, and A pair of chiclids, I quite like the idea of a planted tank, but have read that they sould be cycled with just plants for a month or so, and I'm really impatient. lol. Don't think I've seen killies for sale in Taranaki.
ctsniper86
Oh and i'm not too fused on whether its just one type or mixed. Have glass from a 3foot tank that was poorly built, that I plan to clean up and rebuild sometime in future.
phoenix44
ctsniper? not t-sniper? (i presume this is CS related?) planted tanks are easy to maintain once they have established. what sort of equipment do you have? eg. lights, filter, etc... ctsniper86
Yeah an old name from CS days. I have a 2 foot tank with a glowlux tube, and an old ehiem canister filter, and a old 150w heat I think (might be 100w)

Stella
it is kinda cheating, but there has been some really good info written on crays here, particularly Romeo's post: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=42105&start=15 really cool little guys, can be quite interactive. phoenix44
*groan* don't say the "I" word to me....I am suffering with my wanna be Iwagumi tank....not as easy as it looks :-? grow the foreground plants emersed in the tank, and then fill the tank up with water when the plants catch on. that's one way of doing it. Now you tell me! I know, I didn't ask.... It's a bit late now, but could you grow hairgrass that way?

Jennifer
Most cetainly, just keep it quite damp 8) *pout* I wish I had done my research.... :-? although honestly, the hairgrass has completely spread out and covered the substrate now so i can't complain.... it is the dwarf sag that I want to branch out a bit more....it is sending runners out and has flowered twice but it isn't getting any more dense at all.... I think I needed to get a taller background plant....the back wall is so bare. I thought of a bubble wall but that isn't very Iwagumi at all. *sigh*
