Vinnie
ok, so my partner and I are having our wedding soon and are trying to think of some nice songs to play as people are waiting for the wedding to start / something to play during the wedding. We have a few songs in mind but thought to ask what other people like

tinytawnykitten
Drunkard's Prayer by Over The Rhine is a beautiful song... You're my water You're my wine You're my whiskey From time to time You're the hunger On my bones All the nights I sleep alone Sweet intoxication When your words Wash over me Whether or not Your lips move You speak to me Like an ocean Without waves You're the movement That I crave And in that motion I long to drown And be lost not to be found You're my water You're my wine You're my whiskey From time to time
supasi
What about "the final countdown" Or G'n'Rs "I used to love her, but I had to kill her" The Macarena! Sorry, but it would be funny. Try googling wedding songs. There is heaps of lists of suitable songs

Jenna
My sister walked up the aisle to Mark Knopfler's Storybook Love from the Princess Bride soundtrack - it was a perfect wedding song. Linky (bad quality sound but good enough for example )

smidey
we had a Best of the 60's mix cd playing at the warm up because it was reasonably neutral & everyone knew the songs generally. it can be pretty hard to play music for a mixed group like a wedding party & keep them happy. my sister walked up the isle to Its a beautiful day, U2. Southerrrngirrl
Not one for the traditional lovey dovey songs we went slightly different. I walked down the aisle to So Far Away by Staind. After the ceremony we walked back up the aisle to Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve Songs we had playing before and after the ceremony were U2 - In The Name Of Love & Where the Streets Have No Name, Pearl Jam - Given To Fly, Creed - My Sacrifice, Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy, and Slide, Live - I Alone... Foo Fighters - My Hero.... Hubby had a lot to do with choosing this music so theres some random stuff like Def Leppard, Superjesus, Shihad and The Feelers also... darkfur
Arithmetic by Brooke Fraser - last verse is perfect for a wedding imho "Arithmetic" I've been staring at the sky tonight Marvelling and passing time Wondering what to do with daylight Until I can make you mine You are the one I want, you are the one I want I've been thinking of changing my mind It never stays the same for long But of all the things I know for sure You're the only certain one You are the one I want, you are the one I want I've been counting up all my wrongs One sorry for each star See I'd apologise my way to you If the heavens stretched that far You are the one I want, you are the one I want [Chorus] I won't find what I am looking for If I only "see" by keeping score 'Cos I know now you are so much more than arithmetic 'Cos if I add, if I subtract If I give it all, try to take some back I've forgotten the freedom that comes from the fact That you are the sum So you are the one I want When the years are showing on my face And my strongest days are gone When my heart and flesh depart this place From a life that sung your song You'll still be the one I want You'll still be the one I want You'll still be the one I want You'll still be the one I want
