Why are most Discus Orange?

I want to know why most strains of Discus are mostly Orange, or shades of Orange?

I hate orange, and all golden shades

Why are their no real Red ones?

I mean true red, not the dark orange ones which are passed on as red.

The only other common strains are Blue Turq. or Blue cobalt.

And yes I have trolled through all those asian fish comp./farm threads of endless Discus which all look the same.

Sure they are healthy specimens.

But talk about boring.

All I could think of was caged chickens about the mass bred, bare tanks of bored fish.

I have to admit I don't like Discus anyway.

All they do all day is sit there treading water.

IMHO it would be of better value to have a painted rock in my tank in the shape of, than spend money on a boring shade of Orange fish which just sits there all day.

there was a really red one on tm the other day

as to why, I suppose it is what pigments their body makes - if no discus have genes for a red pigment then the closest you will get is an intense orange

I get the feeling you won't ge buying any anyway lol

LOL!

Who's having a bad day then?

Just to take the contrary view, I think there's nothing more beautiful than a shimmering golden fish in front of a dark green, leafy backdrop. :hail:
