georgeous
He's going to win, pretty much. California will most probably go Obama, and it has 55 electorial votes (they need 270 to win). At the moment, (4.30) Obama has 207, while McCain has 135. after Obama wins CA, it's smooth sailing from there. Thoughts anyone?
Romeo
Anyone who's interested, here's a running tally of the votes shown on a neat map. http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/resul ... t/map.html Go OBAMA!

phoenix44
their economy can't afford a civil war, lol... but a war might just cure their recession. wars = big money for private and public defense companies.
lmsmith
This is the scariest thing ever for the world. Obama simply doesn't have the experience, it'll create such major tension in the world. It won't be long till we see China take over as the next superpower now. alanmin4304
Any person elected as President of the USA would have to have no experience unless it was their second term.
tinytawnykitten
I sadly think it won't be long before there is an assasination attempt.
David R
I can't help but wonder just how many people voted for him simply because he's not a republican, with out any idea of what he actually stands for. American politics is laughable, its all about celebrity.
lmsmith
Any person elected as President of the USA would have to have no experience unless it was their second term. Agreed, but Obama is experienced at being a lawyer and lecturer, not politician (other than 4 years as senator). McCain has been in politics for much longer, and truly (IMO) understands how the politics game works. That's true David - I heard a thing on some US radio station where they went around and asked people who they were voting for - when they said Obama, they asked whether they agreed with his anti-abortion policies, keeping troups in Iraq, and 'his pic' of Palin as vice. Heaps of them said that they agreed with those policies, and even thought that he and Palin were on the same side.
phoenix44
that is the whole point of change mc.cain would have been another bush. lawyers are smart. they look at things analytically - unlike soldiers who look at things only in the way they are trained to do so. Luke*
that is the whole point of change mc.cain would have been another bush. lawyers are smart. they look at things analytically - unlike soldiers who look at things only in the way they are trained to do so. exactly to say it's all about being a celebrity is a sweeping generalisation.. Obama is clearly very intelligent proven by his accomplishments so far. the thought did strike me tonight that with mccain being 72 a lot of people would see him as an older politician like george bush so that possibly swung people away from him due to george's terrible rep. also another way to think of it is an apt question by david letterman to bill clinton recently on the late show "who would want the job of being president now?!" (referring to the recession). clinton replied it would be an honour.. but still good point ay? obama will be good, he's fresh and he's got the younger voters on board. goodluck to him and let's see what happens
