myxsptlk
I've only ever seen red sea salt in stores around here, could have more choice up north but it's been a mission getting any salt down here due to the supplier running out :-? jolliolli
i have also seen instant ocean for sale, but red sea seems to be cheaper

reef
how much do you call bulk salt? 1000kg? or more
imsweet
how much do you call bulk salt? 1000kg? or more probably not that much, but if can get a good deal??? He's using (atm) crystal sea but usually uses stuff in a black bag (cant remember the name..... always helpful) says it's better, comes in about 7-8kg?? goes thru a bag every 3 wks and another friend goes thru a bag every 2 wks. Theyre hoping to source either a larger amount or alternative thats still good quality. If that makes sense. I also forgot to ask how much theyre paying for it. But i know theyre finding it hard to get the stuff. Seems like a common prob perhaps??

imsweet
Thanks Jammos, i'm sure theyve tried here but it'll be the prices thats the biggie. Wonderworld has better prices even with the courier charge.
aquanaut
What about a big salt lick!!!! Any rural supply store will have them. And it will dissolve in the water, how easy.
Swampy
What about a big salt lick!!!! Any rural supply store will have them. supasi
Wanganui seawater is a bit hard to acces. The river pumps out millions of litres of fresh(usually muddy) water every day. The other problem is access to a place to collect is near impossible as its all sandy beaches with massive dunes.
smokn351
I get my salt from these guys. $100(courier included)Crystal Sea Marinemix 600L, cant find cheaper than that. http://aquariumfx.shopnz.biz/catalog/in ... eb1b6c281c
imsweet
Thanks for that smokn, i'll pass the details on. Would love to buy your clown fish but never had marine before and probably not a good fish to start with aye? Dreams are free... after visiting the seahorse farm in adelaide i had my heart on a couple of them too but again, not the best to start with. smokn351
Go for it. but yeah takes alot more to set up and maintain marine over freshwater, but say that round here and you almost get shot lol, and god forbid dont say its more advanced either
imsweet
Yeah know what you mean. The friend that i've asked about the salt for has a beautiful 6ft tank that uses up most of his $$$. Would be interested in having a small cold water marine myself with a couple of hermet crabs in it. Never seen any round here tho. But thats another day.
