Elaine
Hi everyone, just got the tank back on the right path, you can now see inside. was wondering what suggestions people may have to add to the very small fellowship we currently have: 2 corys 1 neon 2 lace G's 1 shark 1 female siamese fighter (no idea how they haven't become deceased)... children want to still go community and pretty. tank is 380 gallon. suggestions appriciated. ANyone with some freebies really appriciated. thanks
ryanjury
tank is 380 gallon. With a tank this size you're going to have to breed or buy an awful lot of community fish to fill it
supasi
Im guessing you mean a 380 litre tank, 380 gallon is massive. Get some south american cichlids. Maybe Discus or Severums. And then get lots of schooling Tetas, ie, rummynose, cardinals or my fav tetra, the lemon tetra.

Ira
Wow, that's an interesting shape tank. Pretty much a huge square footprint. I like. Oh and that'd be basically 500 liters.
Caper
Any pics of the tank Elaine? Caper
Caryl
With a tank that size you are spoiled for choice. I would go for mass groups of tetras, barbs, rasboras etc. Shoaling fish are much more colourful when in a large shoal and the kids will love all the movement. Guest
Thats a really good sized tank for a community. Most people would have discus or cichlids in it. If you're still going community I'd have a planted tank with driftwood and rocks and I'd have like 30-40 neons, 20 or so glowlights, 10 or so corys, a school of harliquins, more fighters, some BNs, atleast 1 more shark, some dwarf cichlids (kribs, gold rams, blue rams, bolivian rams (sp)), some sort of live bearer (platys, mollys, swordtails and maybe guppys depending on what fish you have in there as they may get nipped) and some loaches (khulie, yoyo and dwraf chain are my favourite). Remember when setting up a community tank to have fish for each level of the tank like some for the bottom some for the middle and some for the top and it makes the tank look lots better. Dave+Amy
if you're experienced in fishkeeping definately recommend a south american display as Discus are gorgeous fish! But you should get at least 5 or 6 of them to grow out together...
tracytrout
Hi Elaine Kind of guessing this tank is being set up at a school so cost could be a factor in what fish you put in it and something the kids can interract with would be better...is this correct? If so and it's going to be a community tank, I can give you some guppies and some plants I don't have a car so if you know someone who can pick them up, they're yours And perhaps others here on the forum have fish they'd like to donate...nothing like getting the younger generations interested in fish
Guest
She's getting some fighters off me so hopefully they'll help fill it . tracytrout: were you looking for fighters? I think I saw a post by you or something looking for some?

Elaine
i wish i had one that big. maybe the next one if me and the kids get our way. We are trying to up the animal intake in the house. Dad has put his foot down at the beared dragon so we have moved onto fish for now. Collecting some fish over the next few days, will tray and take some pics.
Dave+Amy
Bearded dragons are cool - David is getting into them atm, he's even got a locust and mealworm breeding setup made, now he's just waiting to get his actual enclosure made THEN we'll be able to get our beardies! good luck on your fish hunting - if my fish don't go on TradeMe I can give you what's left of my livebearers since I'm breaking down the tank anyway. mac
Hi, With a tank that large, I would suggest getting large groups of Congo Tetras, Corys, Hatchet Fish. Now for the Neons I would up the school to around 20. That way they will show of the relatively dull looking Congo Tetras. Which i would get around 10. As for Corys I always love Panda Corys, Emerald Corys. Other than that I would normally recommend Rainbow fish. But the only problem is your tank is not really that long for them to swim in. I would suggest a tank over 3ft, 36inches. But you could get the Dwarf Neon Rainbow fish. And you would be able to have a large group of these active colorful fish. mac

Post subject: oops sorry meant to say 38 just accidentally added the zero Post subject: oops sorry guys really bad typist. meant to say 19" wid So your tank is not 500 litres?? Its actually 38 litres? Please disregard ALL prior recommendations if it is infact a 38 litre tank. Its an AR380 isn't it....
Dave+Amy
wow that's quite a bit smaller lol..you could set up a real cool nano tank with some tetras and some bottom dwellers. I've just got one of those 38L tanks and im making mine into a nano siamese fighter display
mac
Hi, Right so it is a 38lt tank. You could really make a nice Female Beta planted Asian theme tank with it. And by having Female Betas you will also have a colorful looking tank. Just be carful about choosing the Female Betas. Alway watch them to find the most quietist natured ones. mac
