Hi everyone :) my name is Leah and I live in Auckland and I work at Bunning’s. I currently (might change ones getting a bit old) have two cats and I’m hopelessly addicted to computer games (is trying to give up).

I have just gotten myself a 105L tank (38x38x75cm) and I was going to put gold fish in it until I did a bit of research and found out its to small for goldfish *sigh (and it looks so BIG to me). So now I’m thinking about trying some freshwater tropical fish although my mother thinks I’m silly for even trying because apparently there to hard to keep and always die. So going to prove her wrong  (which is were you guys come in because I need help :-? )

Anyway going to go post my questions in there correct locations be warned I have a lot lol. Every time I find an answer to one I think of three more.

I’m so glad I’ve found a Kiwi forum so I can talk in liters not gallons and hopefully get pointed to things that are actually sold here.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys and your fishes. :D

Leah

:bounce:

Welcome the forum is fun as, i would try something cheap and hardy and will breed quickly. Bristlenose, platties then you can have the added enjoyment of having more fish than you actually paid for in the first place, and who knows even make some money back.

105 litres is too small for goldfish as they produce a lot of waste, and can live for a long time and grow quite big. You can keep many varieties of tropical fish in a smaller tank than goldfish.

Whether your fish are cold water or tropicals, all fish need care such as making sure the tank is properly cycled, they are put with compatible species, and the tank and filter are properly maintained.
