tHEcONCH
If somebody only gave you pieces of roofing iron to eat, what would happen to you? Feed it what it wants
henward
ok fair enough ill try that seeing that all the others love the pellets, high quality stuff! then if it doesnt wanna , ill giv eit what it wants
David R
What pellets are you trying to feed? My smaller ones will eat the hikari sinking carnivore pellets, but shrimp and beef heart etc is cheaper!

At $20ish for 70g I gave up trying to get my dats onto them. Feeding 3+ large dats on that stuff would cost some serious $ Beef + Shrimp + Fish = good growth
tinytawnykitten
If someone gave you Brussle Sprouts and you didnt like them, but its all you could eat, you would eventually eat them and like them. I wish that applied to 3 year olds
Ira
if i starve this borneo, will it eat pellets eventually? or will it kill itself out of pickyness? Just because we know it's food doesn't mean the fish does. You'd probably starve to death too before eating gravel if you didn't know it was actually some kind of edible pellet food dropped there for you by aliens. Stella
1 - is it physically capable of eating the pellets? 2 - do those sort of pellets resemble their natural diet at all in nutritional makeup? (ie are your fish more carnivorous or more vegetarian and are the pellets the same) 3- Go the ox heart!!!
Silvia-15
lol, they should make pellets to resemble a guppie or something :P:P but ummm, my borneo tiger will not eat anything but shrimps, whole blocks of bloodworms, and live food... i dont think i can afford to feed my borneos on hikari pellets eh... 120 bucks for 1 kilo... i mean it only cost 50 dollars for a kilo of bloodworms... and shrimp from foodtowns even better, i get the one called "raw shrimps from china" or something like that... Stella
Is there much actual nutritional content in shrimp? They seem to consist of ether or similar I would like to start adding shrimp to my kokopu's diet. So I just get frozen ones, break them into suitable sizes and feed the ones to the fish that I don't eat?
snookie
thats about it , i usually rinse mine in freshwater to get rid of some of the salt content ,great food bulks up fish fairly quickly 8)
Silvia-15
as far as im concerned, shrimp is like protein shakes for fish, high in protein and vitamins (d, b12, b3), however low in fat, about the same as skinless chicken breasts. so its very very good for fish... and people

And only $11.00 for a kg of frozen prawns at Silver Bell in Panmure. You just have to brave the smell of their seafood department to get them... matthewY
When you say shrimps, do you mean the cooked frozen types you can get from the freezer in the supermarket or the uncooked ones? does it make a difference?

Think most of us use uncooked. Well I do. I like Pams the best! You get better growth off beef IMO
David R
I feed uncooked broken prawn meat.
philosophy king
may b do what i do. Henward i know that u have the thought that pellet food is "better" (maybe from monster tank.com)anyways. try this since they eat shrimps chunks, i just stick/stuff a pellet or few(if they are small pellets) into the shrimp chunk. you know the tigers, they wont think, they just swallow everything at one go. works for me everytime. so he gets the shrimp n pellets. this is my technique lol, its not that troublesome 2.
