our platies have just had about 15 babies, yesterday, i was wondering if the parents would eat them and should i take them out of the tank.

mine never have I just leave them, if you feed your fish well they wont be hungry enough to eat them...

For the first 24 hours i think it is, The mother wont touch them but the others mite, I normally put mine in a breeding cage they way i can also see they getting enough food and are growing etc.

If you leave them some will survive and some may get eaten.

I leave mine with the adults and they are fine

They may be fine if you leave them with the adults but they will be fine if you seperate them.

Depends a lot on how heavily planted your tank is really IME

lots of fine leafed plants and moss and they will be mostly fine.

Do put a stocking over your filter inlet for a few weeks if using a power/canister filter as they will get sucked in.

Mine eat some but not all... strangely enough some colours are more likely to be eaten than others :-?

I just saw my first baby platy today - but it got eaten straight away by my apistogramma

I've now shifted the mum platy to another tank, but there's some small gold gourami in there. Are gourami likely to eat the babies too?

i,ve been told that if a fish is small enough to fit inside another fishes mouth then there is a good chance it will get eaten :-?
