nemines
i'll have to find some shrimp....i don't wanna overload the tank with fish cos it'll draw attention away from the plants.... not sure anyway, i've still gotta cycle it  i'll probably go for a very dark navy for the background. i only set it up yesterday lol how are your beardies going? how many arowana have you got? vindy500
how will the borneos go in a low filtration planted tank?
nemines
who knows...? but they do prefer fast flowing and cooler waters (more oxygen) your filter should always cater for the needs of your fish. plants will do better with more current too as it washes away waste from the plants' leaves. nemines
UPDATE: i've gone tropical on it.... i have 22 cardinals, 3 chain loaches, 3 ottos, 5 small flying fox and a pair of blue rams. i'm doing water changes every 4 days and am using a pressurized co2 sytem and an eheim surface skimmer. so far so good. Cheesejawa
get rid of flying foxes they will outgrow that tank. But looks great and what happened to the grass stuff?
nemines
i know the flying foxes will outgrow the tank, but they're awesome algae eaters and as they are currently the same size as my cardinals, they pose no immediate problem. i gave the grass away. nemines
rotala rotundifolia, hygrophila polysperma, anubias nana, osiros sword, dwarf saggitaria, indian fern and ludwigia repens. i just replaced the dwarf sag today with some horemani swords because they're a lot more controlable. i bought all my plants from my lfs. nemines
thanx guys. i'm really happy with it, it's very easy to maintain as well (near a window and a hose connexion): it's on my desk so i can casually trim the plants and clean the tank for a study break.

nemines
the plant was lilaeopsis novae-zelandiae, it's a native. it loves lots of current, a rich substrate, plenty of light and co2. It takes a while to settle into place. should be available from your lfs otherwise they should be able to order it in for you. glad to hear you're setting up a nano
