My water in my tank has gone yellow What could be causing this?

Have you recently added driftwood? It could be tannins leeching out.

yea i have got drift wood i got it from animates

how well did you wash it before you put it in

soaked it for 4 days

i soaked my piece of driftwood for a month and it still leeched.

Keep soaking

Do you use carbon in your filter? That should help.

Hiya do you really need the driftwood if its discolouring your water? Why not try an artificial material?

i have heaps of bristle noses and they need it.

wont do any harm, and it will clear, just takes time, some people even like the look of tea coloured water.

The driftwood will colour your water untill all the tanins leach out. the tanins wont harm your fish, they will just make the water pee coloured for a while. just put up with it and keep changing the water as usual and it will eventually go away, if you cant put up with it, then take it out

So can i take it out for a while and just soak it for a couple more weeks? will my BNs mind?

thats me . i add peat or blackwater extract to get the tan and soften the water.

fishboi, this blackwater extract, is it from your lsf? i asked awhile ago about softening my water but the one here didn't mention it.

Why take the wood out to soak it when it is already in water? The colour won't hurt the fish and will slowly clear.

It will clear, I added a piece of driftwood to my tank which i bought from the LFS and for several weeks it discoloured the water but its fine now. I'd just leave it and put up with the discoloured water for awhile.
