Lucid
Just wondering but how many people out there actually use false plants in thier tanks and how do people feel about this?
Chris.L
Only if they don't have sharp corners, but I would never use them.
Ira
I've tried them before, don't use them, don't like them.
Lucid
I have never used them, I think they look to tacky and don't give the tank that natural feel.
Caryl
Not a fan of them myself.
Matthew
I say no to fake plants, but in a breeding tank I have been known to use nylon as a spawning medium. If that is counted as plant you will have to change my vote
suemack
used them in my first tank when it was first set up and they looked.........sort of.........plastic  - have had real ones since - sue
northland chic
Used to use them but find them to hard to sink and you cannot clean the algae off the leaves. Now only use real plants, looks alot better.
Dark
i had trouble getting them to grow - tried everything but nothing worked
cat
I dont like them either but I must admit some of them do look like the real thing and last a lot longer too. I have used them in my breeding tank as easier to transfer eggs etc but prefer real ones. I have been thinking (only thinking) that I may use plastic fantastics in my Hoplo tank as I was sick and tired of having the floats floating. Tank looks bare without some kinds plant though! mothertrout
Yes, I have a huge plastic fantastic in my largest tank 8) . It is in with my goldfishies, one even laid eggs in it and hatched too I have even put it through my dishwasher with NO detergent (dont panic), to get rid of the ugly alge......a hot clean wash, it got rid of the grime and was left with a lovely clean plant, I soaked it in clean water afterwards just to make sure all was clean, no deaths either . mothertrout
Warren
Good one, never thought of using the dishwasher to clean fishy things...
cat
My hubby is very tolerant and even really enjoys the fish but I think putting fishy stuff in the dishwasher would be too much for him.
Oscar Sheila
How about 'Always' for us Oscar owners?
Ira
Oscars aren't the only plant unfriendly fish.
Warren
Yip, clown loaches are pretty bad too. They seem to like chewing the plant off at the base. I think its just for something to do rather than eat them as once they're chew off they ignore them. Any big Cichlid is usually pretty bad as they like to move the gravel round, - some of them lots. Lucid
kribs are terrible aswell, specially when digging out a nest
Kriber
Hey no stereotyping  My pair (well male + female lately) of kribs don't do much damage to my plants at all. Guess it depends on the individual fish and what greenery is around
Interfecus
I'd never use fake plants. There are many varieties that can live and reproduce without any effort. These will also help by absorbing ammonia etc from the water. Why use a fake imitation of something when the real thing is easy to use?
