I know nothing of marine/reef keeping but love to check this forum out! Curious, is that a tentacle in the white shell, is that what is thriving on its own or did I read wrong. I knew that starfish could regrow a tentacle (if correct word :-? ) but I didn't know that a lone tentacle could survive without a body, so to speak?????? Caper

Many months ago this goldfish (Puff) lost most of his tail fin. Other than spending alot of time "nose" down, he seemed to be fine. There was nothing obvious with the fin other than it slowly disappeared. I probably posted about it when it happened but it was a long time ago. Anyway, the last couple of days I noticed that the other (shoot, I forget if their fantail or veiltail, ah that'll be another post :-? ) was nipping at him when he was out of hiding. Today, one of the ottos appeared to be "on" him. Now I don't know if he was actually "latched" onto him or his was on his way up the back wall & Puff got in the way. I moved him into the 10 gallon tank because of the other nipping at him. Now his tail had been gone quite awhile then the last number of months seemed to start to grow again. I'm thinking this may be due to the fact he was able to hide better from Beauty! Do you think it would be worthwhile to try treating him with Melafax at this point? Would I be able to add that to the tank with the cory's in there? Sorry pics aren't too good, the white is just blur the only white on him is his colors. Thanks, Caper

I feed my goldfish peas once a week. Ditto what Caryl said, if they're pooping, not constipated. Then again, humans do and can be :-? :-? Anyway, peas are good for them! You are right, I think they'd keep eating till they popped :lol: Caper

henward...what kind of fish is in the last pic you posted? Hmmmmm...what makes me tick, in regard to fish :-? I think it would be easier to say what I don't like, fish that eat other fish (I know if it fits in the mouth it's food), I mean fish that have to be fed other fish, nope not for me at allllllllllll. Not into fish having babies. Not much of a variety here in fish...so I pretty much like them all :-? 8) What makes me tick...I would have to say the relaxation that comes with having fish tanks...that is the best! Caper

Hi & Welcome :bounce: I know what you mean. I used to think the worst part was feeding the fish the right amount. But really, once you get it down to system it's really fun. As you can already tell from here, people are great to help out. I know I ask lots of questions. I think you're always learning something new...and in my case, learning something "old" again :-? What I bought here for Ich was supposed to be safe for all fishies, so I don't know about what you have there! But, don't forget when you add meds remove your carbon or else it will absorb the meds. Good luck...keep us updated! Caper

What could be decomposing Spidersweb?? Plus I always to that...but I think the next time I'll try the "jab" tube down in gravel & work my way around that way. To tell you the truth, I thought maybe a dead fish because my 3 ottos are usually hard to spot. Caper

I've done a couple of water changes & my ammonia is now 0. However, the water is still cloudy...but getting better. I haven't fed the fish since the weekend...will wait the 7 days & see what happens! I did nothing different when I gave the "monthly" cleaning. I even took out the ornaments & gave them a good scrub. No new fish to tank...like I said a couple of artificial plants...but that's it. But, I really did "stir" up the gravel...but I always do that when giving a good cleaning. Caper

Just wondering when people vacuum how they do their vacuuming? Examples: 1) Do you only vacuum the "top" of the gravel anytime you vacuum? 2) Do you stir the gravel up, so to speak? Caper

I had 2 guppies one time (all my guppies were male) that always "hung out" together. They were really funny to watch, sometimes they would chase each other and all of a sudden stop dead turn & just stare at each other!
