    How many ottos?

Hi all...I know this is an old post...but rather than start a new one. To refresh, I have (1) 10 gallon & (2) 29 gallons tanks. My goldies' tank have 3 ottos in with them. Neither of the other 2 have any since I haven't been able to purchase them for an extremely long time. Well, I asked about them a couple of weeks ago and they finally got some in. Here is my problem. I wanted to have at least 4 in each of the 29 gallons and 2 in my 10 gallon....sound reasonable??? Found an old post here plus searching the net and the general consensus seems to be 1/5 gallon???? Anyway, in order to get these guys I had to buy the 6 tonight. They are all in my 10 gallon with the 3 cory's. I added an airstone. But what is the minimum I can keep them all in the small tank???? Plus any other suggestions please Oh by the way, I almost had a heart attack when I went to add more tank water to the bag, one of the ottos was right out of the water Three died Caper

    Filter question?

Thanks nemines! I am going to keep on eye on it just in case. Going to ad an airstone or bubble wall too. If it wasn't filtering properly, I would be having lots of problems don't you think...well at the very least unclear water??? Caper
  8. But, alan, the glass of the bulb is actually blue colored, almost a dark blue. Now obviously I know nothing about this stuff :-? , but would it take more watts for light to go through a darker shade of bulb as opposed to a clear one? So, do you think this would be the case for my blue light...providing the same amount of heat? Thanks, Caper

  15. mankeycow...I hope you know I was only joking   This reminds me of the time there was a parent's session at our high school, and the gentleman that was conducting it was saying about all the things we tell our kids...such as...Oh, I'm going to kill you; touch that again and I'll cut your fingers off; you are NEVER going out again, etc. It was so funny as we all sat there saying "oh, I've said that!"  Caper

  20. Thanks Mark That IS funny    I'm still a long way off from setting up my 55 gallon so still debating on cichlids or not. Read in one spot that they weren't considered to be really aggressive fish, although I know each fish can be different. The ones they sell here, well they are calling them red zebras, but it's Wal-Mart so who knows, they are definetely more orange than red! Caper
