  1. Thanks Loopy Yes that helps Now... 1) Do I feed the zucchini in place of the flakes? 2) Am I adding enough to feed all the fish in the tank? Will all the others eat it too even the neons? All my fishies had their feedings today with my goldfish getting their peas. So, wait till tomorrow, right? Anything else I need to know about feeding zucchini? Cooking it like you said should make it sink, right?
  2. This I can give to plecos, right? How do I feed them this? I thought there was a post on here did search but can't find it! Tank has platies, neons, mollies, guppies, & 2 plecos. So...oh, wise fishy people ...HELP...what do I do  I just found a site that said goldfish like zucchini too...so what do you think, as an occasional treat instead of flakes...but still give the peas once a week. Also, saw somewhere on net that says plecos won't eat algae if feed zucchini. I thought the zucchini was a "healthy" treat for them, not to stop them from eating the algae, which I want them to eat as well!
  3. I think this one...a couple of weeks...I usually change it once a month...in between just rinse in water removed from tank. Some pics...hopefully you'll see the difference :-? 10 gallon from front: from side: 29 gallon from front: from one side (Blue is waving ): other side:
  4. WOW...that is pretty amazing! Fish in it as well...or just plants! Thanks for the explaination and pic

    Ottos' poo?

First time I ever noticed this, but last night both Oscar & Felix (ottos ) had really fine, long, stringy poo? Does this mean their constipated? Or what does it mean? Thanks
  6. Okay...tried that...but didn't work either...one pleco went to it...but left it alone in a second...I put 3 in while the others were eating to see if that would distract them. Have to do a search here...find out about zucchini! I'm sure I've seen somewhere here about feeding plecos that??? Can I put any other kind of veggies in with them (neons, platies, mollies, guppies & plecos)????
  7. And here too! Sometimes they're ok I have bought fish there...sometimes...no way will I buy! As I've said before, only one other place that sells fish...and the last time I was there...tanks were that dirty you could hardly see the fish!

    angelfish

Hi Calico Sorry, can't help don't know much about angelfish...but many here do! You should introduce yourself in the welcome section. What are "DAF'S" & "cavies"?????
  10. I just add water and it's like you said takes a few seconds and starts. The only thing I've been doing wrong there is   when I add the water to start it, I've been using clean water (Start Right added) didn't know I should have been using tank water to start. Yes, Ira, been getting really nervous about adding stuff to my tank (unless its recommended here and for sick fishies). Tank still isn't clear as I have seen it before. When you look at it from the front, not too bad but when you look in from the sides you really see the difference. In the 10 gallon, clear not matter what side you look in Thanks all
  11. How big is your tank? How long has it been running?
  12. What is a "dutch" tank?
  13. An anenome killed that beautiful fish...I am so sorry...I didn't know they could kill. The last 2 pics are they what the anenome did to the fish.
  14. I think it was Klay. Anyway, did my water change yesterday and took filter apart and gave a really good cleaning. I also gave my filters a cleaning in the water I took out. The bio was really scummy so gently used a toothbrush and got the worst off. Then I took it of the plastic "holder" it sits in and just squeezed water through it. I hope I didn't do any damage doing all this but the filter was really bad. When I put the filters back in, I didn't put the carbon filter as close as I usually have it (kind of a hard thing to judge). So far I don't see the water coming down the same side as the intake tube. Hopefully, that issue is resolved. HOWEVER, my water is still a bit cloudy. I bought something called "Clear Water" made by Jungle Labs. Supposed to remove odour and cloudiness from established tanks. It states a caution that it will stain! Open the bottle and it looks almost like a deep purple/reddish color. The stuff I used for Ich turned my silicone blue. Do you think this will do the same?? Do you think I should use it at all? Except for adding the Start Right to remove the chlorine and chloramine, I'm a little weary about adding anything. Opinions would be greatly appreciated
  15. Your little boy's birthday yesterday...ah...Friday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY I know that stress can cause alot of problems but you wouldn't think bloating would be a result, especially like Caryl said 4 at once! You said that a couple ruptured? Ah...did you see anything coming out?
  16. Thanks ...I really don't want to have to go looking for driftwood...but if they wouldn't survive without it...then I would When they get a bit bigger, I'll try to get better pics...but so far I think they are the "common" kind. I've saved that site to my favorites and will check it out later or tomorrow
  17. Okay...just checking on Cheech and Chong (plecos)...Cheech doesn't seem to be growing the same as Chong. When they're on the glass, Chong's belly appears "fat" while Cheech's isn't. Plus, Cheech is not as dark as Chong. Any ideas? So, thought I'd through in a algae wafer...everybody else kept at it...plecos didn't have a chance. Any suggestions??
  18. Well, of course, you would Jude     Wok, my daughter lives in Calgary which isn't all that far from Banff...she says it is beautiful. Hopefully, some day I'll be able to visit her Where is our "moose" boy...gone to catch scary fishies?? Karly...you should introduce yourself in the welcome section. Give details about tank (s) as well. If you find that your LFS people don't know alot about the fish...just check out what your looking for...then browse the net...AND OF COURSE...ask here.
  19. So sorry Snowman Trying to see if I can find anything on the net...but so far everything I've found about bloated bellies relates either to "egg binding" or dropsy...I'll keep looking though!
  20. Hi BlueandKim So...I need to put driftwood in my tank...is it absolutely necessary???? I don't have any...should I get a piece...hmmm....hope not!
  21. That would be us Monaro1   JUST KIDDING    But actually we are a large country (land mass that is). Cape Breton is beautiful ...as many other parts of this great country. Even since I was a little girl I wanted to go to Australia...and now I've added New Zealand to the list...but places I'll never get to see But pretty cool...get to talk and become friends thanks to the internet. Now, if we could just figure out how to send fish over the net...hmmmm  Karly...must be a huge variety of fish in BC and lots of pet stores???
  22. Oh my gosh...I didn't realize they "ate" driftwood...thought it was more of a sucking on it thing. Hold on, do all plecos require driftwood???
  23. Sorry to hear about your loss ...I'm sure you did everything you could for Duke
