  3. Hi Kim, did steve breed them purposely or by accident? If it was the former, how did he set them up. Water cons. etc? What was he feeding them? What are you feeding them now? Oh, by the way Kim, you are too kind. Alan 104
  4. I saw a sparrow once that saw a bug it wanted on the other line. wooops. No feet No beak, Dead birdie. Also saw a possum do that too. Thrown done from a line contact, and as I went for my knife to scalp it, it took off. One lucky beastie, and I missed out on my 2/6d. Alan 104
  5. Sweetheart ! ! Have you actually bred them? What are the sex differences you can notice on them Kim?? If any. What size are they. Before I borrow them, if I did, what value would you put on them? Just in case. Thankyou ormali, and BlueandKim, for your replies. Alan 104

    HELP :-)

Hi I'm Noah's brother and IMHO there is nothing wrong with u/g filters. Steve, how does he actually do his water change? Does he clean it right out and fill it up with new water? Does he just syphon off the bottom and fill it with tap water? Or does he do the same as above but use aged water? The syphoned water should be what he cleans his filters in. As for the u/g filters collecting gunk, ah ahh. No way. At least there is a water flow thru the gravel and there may be a bit of fine sedimentation that forms under the plate over time. But this can be cleared by turning of the air and syphoning out of the uplift tube. You can also do a back flush if you want ,by putting the water through the uplift. Either way, I'm sticking with my u/g filter, and washing any of my sponge filters, (baby's tanks) in tank water. Alan 104
  10. Just drop a cooked prwn into the tank and watch the tests results until they have stabilized at the correct readings then start loading the tank with fish after a water change. But only load the tank slowly tho. Alan 104
  11. Goodbye ornaments, plants, and sides of tank. Alan 104
  12. BBS = Baby Brine Shrimp. Definately TUCKER. Also trout pellets, when newly from the factory, need to be soaked cause the are so dehydrated, that when the fish eat it, they can swell to such a point, that they die. I found out from experience. Moral of the story is, feed only enough for the fish to eat in a short time and still be looking for more. Feed small amounts often, instead of one big meal. Alan 104
  13. It is critical for seahorse ponies not to take food from the surface. Most of my babies have presoaked food, BBS for their tucker. Can't beat it in MHO. Alan 104

    A challenge

I find that a half inch syphoning tank is good at removing them as I do with most of my fry. But if the fry are small ones, hatched in a small container, I use a pipette. Alan 104
  17. Either way you have cooked fish, just that you don't have to wait so long to serve them up. Alan 104

    expensive neons

If that's the price of neons Ira. What are White cloud's price. I have seen them at Hamilton for over $4, with the neons about $2.50. Alan 104
  19. There are also some killies that need the estrogen of pregnant animals to trigger a sex change also. Cause all the fish of that (those) specie hatch as one sex, grow quicker cause they don't have to worry about s e x, and put all their energy into growth. There was a story about a certain person in NZ that - - - But that's another story. Alan 104 ps. speak to NZKA #1 if ya want to know the end to that line. Al
  20. If we take the previous post of willygog and replace the words, almond leaf, with the word, peat. Then that sounds exactly what happens with that here. Doesn't it? Alan 104
  21. I have heard it said that if the fish room is running East - West Every time you go west past the tank, feed it, Every time you go east past the tank give it a water change. I presume you'd do that trip several times a day. Good growing on tho. Alan 104

    Wanna big one??

Go to this site, then ponder what size tank you'll have to save up for. http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news ... tfish.html Pity it had to die tho. Wonder how old it was, and it's potential as a breeder of millions more of it's species?? Alan 104
  23. OK Straps I can now understand where you are coming from. Maybe if you were to get in touch with ROB and ask him what the story is. I personally think that that sort of delay is unacceptable. It may have slipped under the radar tho. Here's hoping you get a quick resolution to the problem. Oh by the way, get in touch with Kevin Rowe, he's the newbie breeding coordinator and maybe able to get the ball rolling for you. Alan 104
  24. So, have you withdrawn your auction?? You can't auction something that isn't what you said it is. Alan 104
