  6. Kirstee, how long has the tank been set up for? When you cleaned the filter did you use tap water or something else? Your tank as it stands now should have a BIG water change. What source is your water?? If it is treated town supply, you will have to treat for chlorine.
  7. They will end up at one end and/or sucked up into the filter without precautions.
  8. You can get over that problem Afrikan by using a wide gap mesh buried in the substrate, suits other cichlids as well, including bulldozer oscars when they get going.
  9. To run a bead as suggested by SpidersWeb. The original bead in the corner should be cleaned off back to the glass, clean that surface, THEN apply the new bead. Your tank is still under suspicion tho and may fail without notice. I'd list it for $50 and let them know that it had a slight leak which has been repaired by an internal bead, then wait for questions to come in. If they don't ask, is it your problem?? Nope.
  10. That reads one and a half buckets. :-? And I don't use txt either.

The cost on those parts alone will be approx. $45NZ, then the shipping costs on top. Your choice.
  14. If a seal has gone, it is a good time to get a new tank and then rebuild the leaking one. It is normally a sign of the glue aging, then joint failure at any time. Murphy's Law states, when not home for the weekend or when asleep. Seldom while watching) or a manufacturing fault. To find a fault like that, dose the tank with methylene blue, and you will see where the blue water tracks thru the joint.
  15. No, you don't clean the U/G filter. The closest you need to do is put a syphon hose, about the size of the uplift, and syphon from the uplift tube, with the air off. Remember to turn it on again. This systen pulls out most of the fine crud that has filtered down thru the gravel then the filter plate onto the floor of the tank. To clean above the filter is a different story. You use a gravel vac for that, this pulls out the excess loose detrius from the gravel Once a week/ fortnight job, and for a 600x300x300 tank about 11/2 buckets of water.

What parts were you looking for??
  19. Wat ta go meesheelly, good luck.
  20. Make a feeding tube. A pvc "T", joint three lengths of pvc, to fit the joint, one of which should reach above the water-line. Drop food down the tube and the fish that you wish to target will swim into the cross section and eat undisturbed. Use this appliance one end of the tank while feeding the main tank inhabitants the other end. The target fish will soon get use to it and will be waiting in the tube for their tucker.
  21. Put in a large handful of java moss, teased out, and the babies will use this as a refuge
  22. You do realize that second time round that they can raise more of them don't you??
  23. It's abdomen will be a lot rounder, and swollen than the other, as long as the other is of course the male.
