    waste problem

That is so easy. Don't feed it. Problem solved. Saves money too.
  2. Just had a look at it on TM LL nice tank and setup. Ya right about the fish, you can't see them from those pics.
  3. 42" works out to 1064mm so it isn't that far out, especially if you wrote down the last two numbers reversed.
  4. I have an old shub set into the ground. The only dirt in that is from their season in the sun
  5. Didn't know there was one moving in there. When did that grape fall off the vine??
  6. Mine just stay in their pond, disappear when it gets cold, then when it warms up again they are popping their noses up looking for food again. The shoe box system is very easy. Put them in the box as described then put them in the vege drawer in the fridge. Constant temp is what you are aiming at.
  7. Don't ya love that Now you go and have some Horlicks and go and have happy dreams,

  9. I'd go for eggbound too Rogan
  10. ME TOO!! I have one that leaks water real badly, tried the washers and vaseline trick. Thanks to Wet Pets in Palmerston North for the free-bees. Looks like it may be a bit of Kiwi inginuity for this one. Didn't even get the drip tray with this unit so was using a bucket, that would fill over-night. Leaking from?? The taps, you guessed it.
  11. Let's getthis straight. I was not being a SMARTEE PANTS at all. It is very weird SOME of the questions that come onto this site at times. For the life of me, you don't know the age of the person you are dealing with to start with, it could have been a school pupil wanting to know a question for homework. So being a X carpenter, I am old enough to know what we used as framing in the house we were constucting was called RED PINE I thought it would be enlighteng to tell him/her. I even went to the trouble to google it and get an URL to follow up on my answer. Should have just said rimu and not wasted my time apparently GS
  12. Could try this http://www.fnzas.org.nz/plant_survey/aq ... 4a5889c495 Some of these plants go a reddish colour with brighter light.
  13. Technical data 2028 Aq. size up to approx l 600 Pump output approx I/h 1050 Del.head approx Hmax m 2,0 Power consumption W 20 Heater Power W - Canister volume l 11 Filter volume approx cm3 7,3 Dimensions HxWxD mm 455 x 210 x 210 Easy if ya do a "GOOGLE"
  14. Well!! That's what you asked for and I wasn't being smart Maybe if you showed a pic or gave a better discription I might have been a bit nearer.
  15. It's Rimu. Check this out. http://www.mtbruce.org.nz/rimu.htm
  16. "those things" help keep the contamination thing down!!
  17. Have you got a heap of java moss in with them, and also snails, both of which will give them a source of their first food. BBS and micro worm will be too big for them to start with.
  18. If you bought these on TM, have you got the link to them?? You can add that to this thread. If not, then can you get a picture of them?? Remember one pic tells a 1000 words.
  19. If you bought them as orange-finned botia, I'd go back to the LFS for a refund. I'm sure those sharks are a lot cheaper than the botias.
  20. Safe for the fish, but not too good for you if water makes contact on the works inside. Could smear silicone over it as a precaution. But get a replacement ready asp. It could then be used ONLY in emergencies.
  21. Oh that bit. Yeah well, others before you have tried, do you want to be the next trier?? It has been so long since that has been used that I had forgotten about it.
  22. Hey Rogan, you are good with figures, now try reading instructions. Your turn for a DUH!!
  23. That is so much easier, and I could have saved ten minutes figuring how to explain it. DUH!! Thanks VP
  24. If you want information on your new executive, like who is who, what position they hold, their names, addresses, phone numbers and even email addresses, go to Home on this site, on the right column down to Clubs, scroll down to the bottom of the list of clubs and click on the killies name, then once again scroll down and you will see all the information of the Officers of the NZKA. We are there to try and answer any questions you may have about the club and the fish we specialise in.
  25. You did notice that the male was chasing the female, and hard, this is the reason we use more than the one female to the tank. The male then shares his amorous intentions amongst them all, and doesn't have to go after an unwilling partner. You say you saw it clear 2' up and out of the tank? What didn't the tank have lid protection, time and time again, I mention killie in one breathe, the next breathe is MAKE sure of a killie-proof lid, they'll fit thru gaps, watch out especially where you have HOB filters or pipes coming back into the tank. These gaps can be blocked with filter wool or similar. I know sometimes accidents will happen, like jumping at feed time while the lid is up or off, but be aware of the fact that it is a natural thing for them to do, and just have a quick look at the numbers once the lid is in place again.
