yeah, love my powder blue. over the last couple of weeks hes decided that hes boss of the tank and so now the yellow tang is sulking . i feed them heaps of different foods including nori 3 times daily and 2 different types of jbl dry foods that are spiralina based. the clowns think its wonderful being fed all the time!

sorry bout hijacking this thread, but with the aqua one tanks is it best to remove the whole filter section and replace it with a hang on the back protien skimmer? if you do this would you have to run a external canister filter (empty) to provide the tanks circulation? or would internal powerheads do the job? also what sort of skimmer would be suitable, the sort of setup would be an ar620, 15kgs of rock, looking at stocking it with only 2 clowns and zooanthids. any thoughts would be apprieciated, bonnie

slappers, those photos were taken when the tank was only a couple of months old. heres some new photos.... tank was set up in febuary. occupants now include 2 clowns, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 yellow tang, 1 firefish, a few zoos, tube worms, and a couple of mushies. bonnie

im having trouble with my royal dottyback. ive only had him a couple of weeks, but hes terrorising my fire fish. i have another tank for him to go in (where he'll be by himself) but i cant catch him! is there any tricks to catching fish? he likes to hide in the rock. thanks, bonnie

alot of people do a big water change at the end of the cycle to remove the nitrates which have built up. when my tank finished cycling my nitrates were up around 25ppm, i did a big water change (half the tank) to help lower the nitrates. its now been 2 months since the end of my tanks cycle, and nitrates are finally 0! (been doin a 60ltr water change every 2 weeks). also i think the point of cycling a tank is to establish a good quantity of bacteria that can live in your tank. i think if you cycle a tank without salt you will end up with bacteria that live in fresh water, not in salt water. they might all die if you suddenly change the fresh water to salt water. its also a good time to practice keeping the salinity correct. also good to get your tank heated to the correct temp, so you can make sure your heaters working correctly. hope this helps, happy cycling!

OH NO! reminds me of when i was setting up my tank with no plumbing experience at all. ' i dont need plumbers glue! the pipes stay together niciely!!!' anyway, dont really know what you could use to hold your spray bar still. good luck finding something though.

thanks for clearing that up for me layton now, how do the people with dsb's get rid of the excess phosphorus? and in setups like my one at work (with a dsb in the fuge/sump) will i get high levels of phosphorus?

this is quite interesting, im learning alot! one question, why do dsb's create phosphates?
