are you suggesting the figures are not true or are you saying that Salifert test kits are a waste of money.
-

apart from the fact that the glass was due for a clean the actual water was as clean as any tank that I have seen.

On the weekend I looked at a marine tank. Nothing unusual about that! But wait theres more. The tank which was purchased two years ago is a standard three foot tank. They run a medium? queen type skimmer and a small powerhead. Lighting is by a 150 Metal Halide, it was 2 lights but they felt this created too much heat so took one away. The tank has not had a water change in the time they have had the tank (2 years), nor has the MH bulb been changed in this time. They started with 1 coral and 1 anenome. the coral has divided and there are now 4 nice sized pieces. The anenome has grown a number of arms and appears to have split at least twice. There are three nice sized fish: a blue tang(4in), I think a brown tang(3in) and a clown which I could not identify (3in) The clown is maroon with yellow stripes. They all looked happy and healthy and live on a mainly flake diet Water is topped up with fresh about every three weeks or when the level is getting a bit low for the anenome and the only additive is a few drop of "reef solution" once a month. Now if this doesn't throw all the right procedures out the window with the water what does it tell you.

Wonderful!!! somebody as stupid as me. I did exactly the same thing. got distracted by a knock at the door and when I finally went back to my Marine tank there was 180 litres of water in my carpet. Fortunately no disaster
-
currently I am using 4 powerheads. The reason for asking the question is because I am changing this to a "SCWD" and 2 seio pumps. The SCWD is being run by a massive pond pump and really moves the water on full power.
-
I know this has probably been covered somewhere in this forum but sometimes its hard to find just what you want to know. My question??? I know water movement is important but how do you actually direct the flow. Is it better to direct it onto the corals or direct it around the tank thereby creating the needed flow without upsetting the corals. i.e. soft corals. The flow I am using would border on savage as against soft flow. Thanks mitch

Reckon we would be starters. See a couple of corals that we like and would be interested in the fish. Only problem we foresee is what happens if we all want the same things and the buyer then gets left with the unsellable items. Apart from that good on you for coming up with an innovative idea Mitch

Hi you all in the saltwater forum. The President of F.N.Z.A.S and the committee of the Taranaki Aquarium & Pond Society would like to extend an invitation to any marine enthusiasts to attend the F.N.Z.A.S conference in Inglewood 3rd -5th June 2005 (queens birthday weekend). As we all have the same basic aims this would be an ideal chance to share ideas, particularly with a view to increasing allowable imports and retaining what we now have. You share our forum so now why not take the chance to enjoy our company. We can offer you a fabulous weekend. Good food, good ales, giveaways, mystery prizes and us. . We do need to know as soon as possible please so if you are interested please look at "Conference 2005" for more information. Hope to see some of you here, a quick response can be given by PM. We are planning to close registrations this Friday due to the heavy demand for beds for the upcoming Lions tour Thanks all Mitch President T.A.P.S

Thank you. We were disappointed to see that the date clashed once again with other arrangements. A change of weekend would be appreciated even though we know this is probably only for a few. Debby & Mitch

Mark Yes we have your registration thanks Dave we only have yours not Jude or Rob yet TO ANY MODERATOR For the sake of peace and harmony would you like to remove this post please. It has served its purpose and any further information would be best posted under the Conference 2005 heading. Thank you

We are not in a panic but I would have thought that only 7 repeat 7 persons from outside Taranaki registered at this stage is cause for some concern. This has now become more critical as the hotel where we had arranged cheaper accommodation has now closed its doors and is no longer available. This is why I had to stir something along NOT just a case of panic for the sake of panic.

Bill The choice of the title may have been inapropriate but it has got the desired action. We in Taranaki are responsible for running this conference and we will do all it takes to make it a sucess. Sorry if this may offend somebody but we are under pressure from Rugby fanatics over accomodation and we will do all we can to make sure we dont lose out to them. FNZAS is more important to us than a rugby game. O.K. rugby supporters dont get off your high horses this is friendly competition. Mitch

Hey guys I know that there are a number of reasons why people cant attend and we accept this. It is those that have to be there as delegates or fed reps that this is more directed at. But also there are always a few extras that arrive and in this case we are on a tight shedule because any accom not confirmed by 20th will be given to others i.e Lions rugby supporters.

Caryl Yes have got your regs thanks. Now big favour please My machine wont let me send reg forms out. Could you please please use your fancy machine and send a copy to Cees and Mysticvampire thanks
-
Alan Would I dare to forget somebody as important as you  but your two "dont a conference make"
-
What it means is that people are very lax when it comes to registering for the upcoming FNZAS conference. If insufficient numbers attend the meeting then there will not be a committee to run FNZAS. I doubt this would have any effect on this forum

FNZAS HAS COLLAPSED WELL THIS IS THE HEADLINE THAT MOST LIKELY WILL APPEAR IN THE NEXT "AQUARIUM WORLD." WITH ONLY 6 DAYS TO GO WE HAVE NOT EVEN RECEIVED SUFFICIENT REGISTRATIONS TO FORM A QUORUM FOR THE AGM.   DONT YOU THINK THAT IF YOU ARE COMING YOU HAD BETTER GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER
-
Apologies from Debby & I wont be able to make it . Have a good meeting and see some of you at Conference Mitch

I have been fortunate to spend the last 2 Sundays in Auckland visiting with a number of Marine enthusiasts, seeing some wonderful tanks and picking a lot of brains. Arriving home 10pm last night I took a good look at my tank with the result that this morning along with a water change the tank was stripped down and rebuilt. It fell into place beautifully and now I can say I am happy with the look of it. Thanks to you all but for my piece of mind it might pay if I arrive on your doorstep to lock me out so I can return home in peace Thanks all of you.

This is the FNZAS conference run for you people this year by the Taranaki Club. The conference is a business section coupled with a lot of fun. Well if you want fun pull your fingers out. We have asked for a list of club or provincial colours for a plan that we have in mind. Something different but something we hope will bring a different dimension to the Conference. 1 club has replied the rest of you are presumably leaving it to "SOMEBODY". What more do you want us to do?. We are doing our best, how about you doing your bit to help. It is YOUR conference not ours.
