    6ft Tank

hmmm, sounds a bit dodge to me, 6x2x2 is a lot of water for 6mm glass, go with caryl's idea, 700 odd ltrs wouldnt be nice on the floor.
  2. Thanks David, it is definately not as active as my albino. Its gone through a growth spurt these past few weeks, nearly getting as big as my albino
  3. Java fern will grow on drift wood, tie it on with some black or brown cotton, then after a while it will stay attatched and you can cut the cotton off.
  4. Hi Andre, try Redwood aquatics they are in christ church, they were very helpfull when i was trying to get hold of some. They supply some of the Ak shops.
  5. Yes i think blood parrots are deep orangy red, and fire parrots are more yellow. So if you bought them as fire parrots not much chance of them going orangy red.
  6. Few, would be a shame to loose a nice fish like that.
  7. could be worth a try, if it starts to get to distressed, nice fish by the way.
  8. No, but i reackon if i dont do a gravel clean for a while it prob would. So if it is cyanobacteria, what does this mean?
  9. My fish seem ok. so far.
  10. Ok not to sure if this should have gone into the plant section but, does anyone know what bright green algae is a sign of? Its not like the normal green algae, its greeny-blue(bit hard to explain). It has started to grow over my gravel, i can clean the bottom but it comes back after a couple of days. It started to appear after i put some slate rock that was on my deck into my aquarium. Any ideas? the water tests ok for ammonia and nitrite, and the nitrates are acceptable, its got me baffled. :-?
  11. Hey there, and welcome. Not to sure about sexing, but you could prob get away with keeping them with cons, parrots can hold there own. Are they blood or fire parrots?
  12. Is it a well cycled tank? have you tested your water for ammonia, nitrite and nitrates? If your tank is well cycled and you are doing weekly water changes, you shouldnt really need to use carbon. Dont get me wrong, carbon is good, and it can make your water crystal clear, but its not realy needed in my opinion. Is it a new type fluval with the four sponges? cause if it is keep using the pre filter and maybe get a box of ceramic noodles for extra surface area for bacteria. Did you clean the filter when you took the carbon out?
  13. hey guys just wondering what ph are you keeping them at? can they be kept at 7 or is it best to keep them at lower ph? sorry a bit off topic
  14. no i'm selling it, well trying to , a few people have been interested, but i think if it dont sell this time i will trade him at my lfs. Yes the pink tail has sold. 8)
  15. Me too  They are very fast and powerfull swimmers, and yes it would be a great addition to a six footer, so you should buy it
  16. How about a Bichir? they get big, and arent aggressive, but are predatory, and i gaurantee that you will get a WOW! when people walk into the lounge. Just a thought, the possibilities are endless Check out the Rare and Unusual section

  20. thanks, il give it a week and see how things go, my fish seem to be ok, and i still have a little surface disturbance.
  21. yea thanks guys, seems to be ok at the mo, prob would be better to break the surface, but i prob dont need to.
  22. Definately a good price, but the tank is a bit small. Notice the drop-eye, nearly every silver i see has got it.
