  1. just getting opinions, i was using same method as david, thinner tube. but i was told that should use a thicker tube - i will prob just get a pvs pipe and attach a hose to it, the hose cant straighten out enough, and my tank is too deep and high fromt he ground, fi i stand on a chair i find it awkeward to see properly and i suck up too much sand haha i need a wand type long stick suction tool:D so cheap pvc will do i guess.
  2. i ahve silica sand, and plecos tend to poo alot. i currently use a thick bore gravel syphon, i cant syphon the sand so just hand it over the poo whcih doesnt sink in. i find that its slow and sluggish to suck the watste however, aqua one makes a gravel siphon which has a widened end but very thin tube. would a thinner tube such the particles faster? i know thicker means it moves more water at one time, but i want to move water FASTER not more at one time. any feedback? http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/deta ... ner/m/937/ standard thicker tube http://www.hollywoodfishfarm.co.nz/deta ... 0cm/m/937/ thinner tube
  3. bt is good, veges, dog food, snails, slugs. cheap and free. beardies need live insects, but mealworms are good to breed, crix and locusts too
  4. a 100w basking bulb on for24 hours a day will cost only about 4 dollars a week. thats 24 hours. blue tongues even bearded dragons will only need 8 to 12 hours of heat a day, summer, probbly less. invst in a thermostat and get a ceramic emiter, you will get return on investment with in 12 months in terms of power saving. a small reptile bulb will cost only 2 dollars a week to run if its on 10 hours a day. the cost of running a reptile tank is cheap. in fact, reptiles are cheaper to keep than fish. except maybe turtles - they need heated water, even then, its on ly 22 to 25 degrees of water turtles need. i think you are overestimating the cost of reptile keeping, i reckon go for it, you will enjoy it
  5. saw the L018 haha, its small and hides but saw it on the wood. think it smelt feeding time. the l114 is hiding with the clown loaches. the Niveatus is jsut on the wall sitting there. any form of hiding spot or tubular thing becomes occupied by clown loaches
  6. should have taken pics before intro. no way i can get a pic now lol the L114 is beautiful!
  7. mmm still rather small i guess. nice though. dont think it will suit my set up, just considering:D will focus on clowns
  8. i dont lke the idea of shipped fish but hey, kinda the same. jsut the eyes i guess:D
  9. yeah, its pretty blue, but that could be black showing through the gold albino type skin. and has a faded blue look but none the less, black or blue its novelty lol when its bigger, it will certainly be interesting.
  10. yeah, i didnt even know there were long fins. talk about upsell! i also bought some bio media to top up my filter, been 3 to 4 years so some have worn down
  11. Just picked up 3 plecos today, came out with 4! L114 leopardus cactus L026 niveatus L018 Gold nugget Long fin blue eye golden BN lol
  12. can only do impulse when you have the money! i am selling a few goods to fun plecos... i would ensure i invest in filtration, and the right type of tank before and lights for these fish! its like buying an exotic car, you wouldnt park it outside or a carport! so nice!
  13. I just had a visit to see thse fish Oh my golLY!! I feel sad, extremely sad, that i had to walk out of there empty handed. The VIP Xback make smy rtg look like a peasant!! (though i love my monster RTG) The gold on that baby vip xback is so intense so much more than mine, when its older, it will literally shimmer in the water!! and the numerous reds!! wow! Vips look awesome, such lng fins and the tail is beautiful! all of them look wicked! the hape is much different to the gold strains though - the head is much pointier i think anyways, awesome fish. anyone out there game for the king of the aquarium - give king a buzz!!!! you wont be disappointed
  14. wonder how far before the auckland breeders are from selling them? only a matter of time i guess right? any ideas a town?
  15. do they ship well? is that person selling on here? expensive for a bristle nose, but albino is rarer i guess......

  17. very nice! nice pieces of wood!
  18. yeah what i did was slowly take the wood out of water, submerging only the tip of its head where i can see it instinctively, it wants to come out. i do it slowly and it comes out eventually. took literally 5 minutes of holding it above the tank lol

  20. cool thats what i want, i want themt o come out during the day any one use NLS stable wafers? are they truly stable? doesnt fragment
  21. yeah, i just slowly took the out out of water, it slowly come sout i dont believe there is wood they can get into now. just digging in sand, i have silica they love it, you see them playing in it.
  22. who feeds their pleco when lights out? naturally they are nocturnal but i hear some plecos comfortably come out during the day and feed with the rest. who feeds them at night? also who uses H2O stable NLS discs? is it truly stable for 24 hours and does not break apart? this would be good to put just when its lights out, they come out to graze OR do your plecos come out during the day when fed this? is it neccesary? My panaque tends to chew wood all day and sift through the substrate when its lights out
  23. yeah, i have some but problem si that my substrate is very deep. will need to ensure the rocks go all the way to the bottom of the substrate, or else they dig under it too i have removed cracked wood .... found them hiding in one of them - 4 of them fit in a small crack, so amazing, im down to 74
  24. a small clown crushed himself under a rock they love to burrow. it burrowed then the roacked musta moved, died. I have secured all rocks now, but scared it may happen, made sure the rocks are secured alllll the way to the glass bottom pass the substrate anything else i should look out for?
