  1. Hmmm nothing at all cos it's at work 2x 150watts DE Halides, 2x 36watt Actinics, 600watts of heating and about 100watts of pumps and all free, but when i had it at home it was costing about $30 a month not bad i thought for a 4' tank at about 360Ltrs i thought.

    DE or SE

    2x 150w DE 10000K

    MH on timer

Not sure if all elto timers do but the ones i use do remember the relay contacts are rated for 32amps but the circuit board will not be sized for 32amps so if you killed a few it maybe the circuit board tracks fusing, and as for elto power boards completely different things.

    MH on timer

The elto digital timers at bunnings have a 32amp rated relay in them perfect for high start up currents devices.
  5. Whats the price of a Iwasaki 10000k lamp surely not cheaper then the 6500k Iwasaki lamp? I'm not actually sure what the pet stores are charging for 10000k lamps as i've never brought one from a pet store, so what kind of prices are they asking for a 150w 10000k double ended lamp?
  6. Looks, 6500k lamps look yellow while 10000k looks white and 14000-20000k lamps look blue. Do have to say the main disadvantage with the 10000-20000k lamps is there price compared. :-?
  7. Yeah was just going to say they are good for growth and with that comes a lot of algae. 10,000K and 14,000K are probably the most comon Kelvin ratings used. If your tank is reasonably new the algae is most likely part of the tank cycling.

Have you tried Sylvania lamps i use their 150W double ended 10,000k lamps and they work fine, but i dont use arcadia fiitings.
  9. Same, i have two submersable aquaone pumps 2200L/h each one at each end of the tank and have used pressure pipe with an end cap and cut slots in it or drilling will do the same, to make the pipe fit on the pump intake i heated the pipe up so that it was soft and pushed it on the intake lip of the pump let it cool down and away you go. they've been working for two years now and still going stronge.
  10. lol good thing she doesn't read the forums hey 8) could you imagine the text's i'd be getting at the mo
  11. Lol i told my ex wife she fart and snores while sleeping she didn't believe me till she woke herself up one night passing wind.

    Naso Tangs

Sorry Trinity i thought you were using the site as a reference to size, the site should maybe think about adding the full adult size to aid people. Joeblog wrote: I agree it surely must be only to a certain degree that a fishes stump in growth is determined by size of inviroment surely, hence why i wrote Kermit Good debate that i'm sure has been discussed but has anyone actually found any evidence of this? Naso Tangs

to a degree yes, but my main reason was that the web site say's 5-7" when 46cm is 18" there's 11" missing on that fish.

    Naso Tangs

I agree when i was in fiji the Naso tangs were one of the bigest tangs swimming around on the reef's, your web site say's 5-7" more like 18-24" maybe more that and the clown tangs. O to be there again

    A few pic's

Awsome photos, man i've gotta upgrade my camera.
  18. I think Redwoods here in Christchurch may have some in quarantine at the mo not sure if they're the reef safe ones or not but will be released in about 2 weeks.
  19. True fella tangs should be in a long tank so they dont swim around in circles. How about a lown mower blenny?
  20. I just put in a Kole Tang done a sweet job on my tank better then the purple and yellow put together and doesn't seem to worry what type of algae either, they have a large mouth just for the job.
  21. A huh i see, well i can tell you that a solinoid valve wont work on a 5g tank as there will be very little pressure to open the solinoid, most solinoids require about 2bar give and take pressure to open them thats 20meters head of water, we sell motorised ball valves but not sure what the drive time is to open/close them i'll have a look for you are interested?

    Chemicals

Ok i'm sold where do i get mine
  23. Sorry can you please explain a bit further, as you say top up water which i assume is fresh water? but what you mean by saltwater transfer? Washing machine solinoids are plastic bodies and are cheap around $30+ trade, we sell brass solinoids at work a 1/4" will come to $70+ probably cheaper 24 and 230vac coils.
  24. That depends on how much you buy, i see the site is now charging 18pnd when i was buying it was only 2pnd which made it a lot cheaper then South Island Components but now unless your going to buy heaps SI components are the best deal.
  25. Available in NZ most eletronic stores carry them try Jcar electronics, or if Chch south island components dick smiths have PIC chips but not sure if they have PICAXE. You use to beable to by the starter packs which gave you everything needed to start pretty cheap the chips alone are anywhere from $5-30 thats just the programmable chip. I haven't got the time to sit down and design a circuit nor find the dialling string comands easy for me to by a dialler already make and i know will work.
