  4. HI limegirl, welcome to the forum!! by the way what is TFC?
  5. if a male waits underneath the nest and chase the female away as in protecting it...you know you got some eggs. thats when u remove the female.
  6. hello all, i only have 18 small tanks at the moment, so i dont think have MTS. if you guys have more tanks for sale, i will be happy to get some of you.
  7. ouch...these really nice guppies strain. i think i have a flamingo. i cant believe my only female of that strain died.
  8. BBS is surely a better food source than microworms!! it is a recognised number one food source for breeders worldwide. i only use bbs to feed my fry even adults fish. it is a bit expensive, but its worth all the money!!! speaking of which i am running out on BBS eggs... oh yes...the congo tetras. Get them to eat little amount of BBS in a short timeframe, say 2 hrs, just to get their stomach full, and you can see the pink belly. then feed again in 2 hrs later, this will let the fry eat 6 times a day! instead of one or two Big feeding a day. you can really see them grow this way.
  9. hi Miskell.a Welcome to the forum!! you can introduce yourself to the welcome section of the site, and let us know more what youre interest are. well, i no expert on gourami breeding but i have spawn bettas lately. for filtration, sponge filter is good, but keep the air barely bubbling. this will not actually disturb the bubble nest and still keeps the tank cycled. some people prefer no filtration as the fry can eat the infusuria as the water go green. from what i saw from the post, are u trying to breed a A three spotted gourami with a honey gourami? if so, this wont work as they are two different types of gouramis. but for breeding honey gouramis, Mating can usually be triggered by lowering the water level and raising the water temperature. The the male will start building nest is made at the surface among the floating plants. The male courts the female under the nest, where he curls around her and turns her belly-up. The eggs are laid and fertilized in this position. The eggs float up to the nest where the male will keep a constant watch. He will chase away all intruders including the female, as well as keeping the nest in constant repair. this is when you remove the female. Any eggs or fry that fall from the nest will be quickly scooped up and gently spat back into the nest by the male. The eggs hatch in about twenty-five to thirty hours and the fry become free swimming in four to five days. when the fry started wonder off from the father and looking for food. this is when u remove the male. it is best to feed fry live food. higher water temperature should be maintained for several weeks after hatching to keep fry growing. hope this helps. shiuh

  13. okies,...i will post another one on making this DIY Sponge filters
  14. it is actually a sponge roller for painting that you can find in a $2 shop. i just use it as it got a plastic tube running through the sponge. save me time of actually cut a hole into the sponge. i just drilled some holes in the tube and stick a an airline in. easy. perhaps i should explain how i make it. shiuh
  15. Thanks Pegasus, i got the this idea from the article you wrote from the guppy express sometime ago. so Big thanks to you. Tank Cost the bigger tank with 2 dividers were made for $30 each. 600mmx300mmx300mm the little tanks you can get them from the warehouse for just $12 Tank Volume each individual tank volume is around 18L. but ideally for 2-4 adult fish. but can keep fry for a short while. Heating for heating wise. i just put a heater in the middle of the tanks and heat will transfer to the other two. forgot to mention my room temperature is around 21 deg and it gets up to 25 deg at noon. the room itself gets so hot with sunlight coming in and with heated tanks in such a small room. Filteration system. i made myself these sponge filters for just under $1.50 each. they are all connected to a high capacity pump. works wonder in small tanks like this. shiuh
  16. Interested in line breeding guppies but you don’t have the space available? The current breeding setup that I have can be practical for limited space people, you can be amazed how a few tanks could be fitted into a small bedroom. This is a DIY project, low cost compact setup in just 3 hrs. Not the flashiest, but it works for me. gathering the tanks that I have about 18 of them. Setting up the galvanised Steel stands. Due to the size and construction, these stands can be easily adjusted, extended or lifted out. My DIY sponge filters. Each tank has its own sponge filter, which are controlled via the gang valves. Connecting the individual airlines. This Shelving unit is quite compact, although the tanks are quite small, these would be ideally suited for a breeding pair of guppies, bettas. And cleaning individual smaller tanks would be an easy job. Larger tanks are for housing growing frys. a complete breeding setup in just 3 hrs. HTH shiuh

  20. yes....there are too many false albino claims lately. would love to get my hands on them. the only to get them is to rob that guy that snowman is talking about.
  21. how long does swordtail fry grow up to young adult Paul?
  22. i only use newly hatched BBS for fries. they stay alive in the water for a few hours while the fries eats them. They dont pollute the water as much as liquid fry food.
