  1. http://www.clearwatercrayfish.co.nz/koura.html#1b Found this site with red glory koura and thought I'd share it if any was interested.
  2. They make such unique and interesting pets with great personalities! How does he do with the fake plants? I can't have any plants at the bottom of my aquarium, real or fake without my guys destroying them. Yes plastic and silk plants included get shredded into tiny pieces! I like to add oxygen weed occasionally for them to destroy and munch on if they feel the need and I find they don't tend to touch the plants the float.
  3. Once you've got black beard algae it's almost impossible to remove. I would suggest starting new and with fresh water. When transfering the fish avoid putting any of the water from your old tank to your new one. And for using cycle, I've used it with great results. While it did seem to speed the cycle process along I can't say if it was the product or just the way my tank naturaly cycled but I would definitely recommend it and I'd use it again. For a tank the size of yours I'd suggest saving the money on buying nutrifin cycle and let your tank cycle naturally as long as you've got A LOT of patience.
  4. Lovely tanks! How did you manage to breed the corys? Was it on accident or did you plan it?
  5. That's great! Enjoy your new tank
  6. I really like these aquariums, I have the same one but I do find on the odd occasion it does rattle. Its way the filter is sits in the hood in my tank and if it's not sitting correctly (nice and snug) the vibrations make a loud noise. I'm not sure if it's the same in your case but all I do is lift the filter up and rearrange where it is placed ever so slightly so it is a snug fit. Sometimes it takes a bit of jiggling around to get the position right. It doesn't stop the noise completely but it makes a big difference. I also keep the water flow down mid/low so it's not as noisy.
  7. Are there many plants out there that are toxic to frogs that should be avoided? I'm going to put plants in my terrarium as well and I'm unsure of what ones to use
  8. Thank you, that's great information! I like the idea of disguising the divider. I dont like the look of glass but I think I might get a glass divider and hide it behind rocks/stones. I might start looking around for some plants to use and a pump for a the waterfall. Can anyone recommend a pump to make the waterfall as I don't quite know what I'd be looking for?
  9. I wouldn't recommend minnows or small tetras as they are schooling fish and need to be kept in groups of six or more of their own kind. Also minnows need lots of room to swim as they are very active fish so a 13 litre tank is way too small. I would recommend a minimum of a 20 litre tank for a small school of either minnows OR small tetras.
  10. 13 litres is very small. I'd say it's suitable for a single Betta. You would need a nano heater if you were to have a betta though.
  11. Thank you for the advice so far. My frogs are currently in this exo terra 45cm cubed terrarium with sphagnum moss as substrate, fake plants and an old takeaway container used to hold water. I'm wanting to up my game with my new terrarium as this basic set up is not very appealing to me anymore.
  12. I have just gotten a new exo terra terrarium (90cm L x 60cm H x 45cm D) and I would like some ideas on setting it up. I'm wanting to go for a natural look and maybe have a waterfall. Im thinking about having a water section in the terrarium big enough to house a small school of minnows or a couple of coldwater guppies. Any ideas on how to divide land and water? (Preferably not using a glass divider) Also what plants are suitable for green and golden bell frogs and what sort of substrate is best to use? If anyone has a terrarium already set up that they'd like to share I'd love to see some photos for inspiration Thank you

    Hello

Hello everyone, I'm from Hamilton. I am new to this site but not to fish keeping. I have had fish for years now. I'm learning more and more as my hobby expands. I started off with a small 28L tank and a few tropical guppies which quickly turned into many guppies! I currently have four tanks plus a green and golden bell frog terrarium set up. I have my 28L with the guppies, a 165L tropical community tank, a 140L with naitive coldwater fish (inanga, koura and common bullies), and I have recently set up a 32L betta trio tank which I have cycled using some guppies so I'm currently looking for some beautiful bettas to call it home. I look forward to finding more about this wonderful and amazing hobby.
