@lakshan this is a very old post - you should post in the Wanting to buy section if you are wanting to look for a specific fish. the fish your looking for is not one that is often rehomed as they are fairly pricey in NZ I recommend talk to your local pet shop- 7 replies

It's with great sadness I have to post today. Grant Simpson beloved husband to Caryl Simpson has passed away this morning. Grant and Caryl have been a huge part of the FNZAS for a very long time, and part of the Marlborough Aquarium Club. Our biggest condolences to Caryl and her whanau at this time. If you would like to leave a memory of Grant please share them below.

Kia ora, fish keeping whanau! Did you know that MPI are completing a review on the Biosecurity Act and that submissions close on the 29 November 2024?? The FNZAS is potentially making a submission, and as fish keepers / aquatickeepers and hobbyists we think your voice should be heard. I have attached a link which takes you to their page, theres a lot of information to go through and unpack - you can make a submission yourself, but please note that submissions are Public information. If you wish to supply feedback to FNZAS to add into their submission you can, please email [email protected] or [email protected] Please note that submissions need to be relevant to what they are proposing so please please please read the information. The consultation package contains proposals that span across a range of areas in the biosecurity system. These proposals have been grouped into six topics: • System-wide issues; • Funding and compensation; • Border and imports; • Readiness and response; • Long-term management; • Legislative interfaces. Although we may not be individually affected by this - it will have impact on NZ fish and aquatic keeping and imports. Thanks FNZAS President - Maxine Here's a Blurb that MPI have on their website Background information on this consultation and the Act New Zealand’s biosecurity system helps protect our economy, environment, and people from unwanted pests and diseases. Our biosecurity system is underpinned by the Biosecurity Act 1993. The Act provides the main legal framework for MPI and other organisations to manage and respond to harmful pests and diseases. The Act provides MPI and other organisations the tools to manage biosecurity risk before it arrives on New Zealand’s shore, at the border, and within New Zealand. While the Act has served us well for the last 30 years, increasing pressures on the biosecurity system from trade, travel, online purchasing and climate change mean some changes are required to keep the system resilient and fit for the future. We have an opportunity now to strengthen the biosecurity system and make it efficient, cost-effective, and adaptable. Since 2019, we have talked with key stakeholders (including mana whenua, regional councils, Government Industry Agreement partners, and other government agencies) about potential updates to the Act and key policy issues. Proposed amendments to the Biosecurity Act | NZ Government (mpi.govt.nz)

Hi Pamela Welcome, as mentioned, the forum is a bit slow, but a few of us are still here - there is a native fishkeepers facebook page which Stella is active on.

I've never come across the colour change but if the lump was by a fin sometimes this happens due to water quality, I know you have said water is all okay but can you post the actual parameters as well please. Ammonia nitrite and nitrate.

Fishly is a legitimate site, so im not sure whats going on there, you will need to try and contact them do they have a phone number?
-
sometimes also the stem plants we buy are grown emersed and they sometimes melt back and come back with submerged growth - also if your running c02 or adding a nutrient to help with that it could be causing it to melt

glad to see you found a new betta - hope this one does betta ... hehehe

hello thanks for posting on this forum - can you please update this to ensure it follows the forum rules for "FS / swapping" fish - this then allows us to share your post onto the Facebook page without any retribution from the algorithm. Thanks heaps -
well to be honest as someone who is not a trout fisher - I have no idea but now you have me making a face while I also ponder this! - intriguing indeed!

Starting microfauna cultures in West Auckland
maxxi1 replied to TJ Lowen's topic in Beginners Corner
I dont know how many of our members are auckland based at current we don't have a club up there... probably I would check any streams close to you but I'd be looking for water quality also... sometimes a bucket with some grass clippings putside can start off a good culture of micro organisms -
WTB Smudge Corydoras + Sterbei Corydoras
maxxi1 replied to Fishie123's topic in Private Trade and Exchange
ask your local pet store as both are often enough on the list - the sterbai are always on there. -
you will need to ask around in your area, some glaziers also build tanks- but that doesn't mean they build stands, possibly stealth aquatics (or go and ask the local club up there as well)

The following email has been sent to all clubs, and their exec/ delegates to distribute. Good afternoon all Clubs, Presidents, Delegates and Executive. Attached are the minutes from the latest Exec and Delegate meeting held for the FNZAS. But I also wanted to discuss some other items with clubs and really wish to have your feedback. First of all, I'm looking for people who are wanting to join a working group - the working group is for the new Societies Act, which now gives the FNZAS the opportunity to update (we have to as there is new legalities) to update our constitution. - If you would like to be on this working group please email [email protected] - the group members will have a Facebook chat, as well as a forum chat set up for them (if I can figure out how to set this up) and also will be able to access via myself the zoom to have meetings to discuss, this then will need to go out to exec and delegates to discuss and then all clubs get to vote on it - This is a huge opportunity for clubs to have their say - and I would love to have at least one or two people from each club who are interested in joining in on this. We must register under the new Societies Act before October 2026 and a new constitution will work alongside this. I have attached MBIE Links for the changes and constitution building tool for people to have a look at. https://www.mbie.govt.nz/business-and-employment/business/regulating-entities/incorporated-societies-act-2022/ https://is-register.companiesoffice.govt.nz/law-changes-for-societies/ https://is-register.companiesoffice.govt.nz/law-changes-for-societies/your-society-will-need-a-constitution/ https://is-register.companiesoffice.govt.nz/help-centre/running-your-incorporated-society/constitution-builder-tool/ Can clubs please have a discussion at their next meeting and come back to myself - I will share with the Exec and Delegates from each club can elaborate where required. What would you like the FNZAS to do for clubs? What would you like the FNZAS to do to help support membership? (competitions? prizes etc etc) What are your expectations of the FNZAS? If FNZAS had a zoom account for clubs to use - would you take advantage of this? FNZAS currently has this information as a who we are / objectives in our constitution (see below) - What do you think we do?
