  1. Nice! If you have any available or breed them let me know, it was be a awesome pattern to mix with my yellow elegans. Do you have any other natives?
  2. Nice gecko! Harder to find ones with the full stripe down the tail.
  3. :iag: crickets will escape or be very difficult to find in a grassy enclosure that size. You would also need to feed at least 50 a week plus fruits and veges which you could plant in there. You can always replace water without the worry of a filter, but this would need to be done about twice a week. Good size enclosure though, just make sure it allows plenty of sun.
  4. Are you sure these aren't the small adult forms of the white worm?
  5. Thanks for the advice guys :gpo2: They are not mites (mealworms other side of room) more like the worms you speak of. It sounds like the containers are really the way to go. How do you know how moist to make the containers?
  6. Hey forum, Its common for bad eggs to grow fungus but i seem to be getting a distinctly large amount of them in my Rcom Juragon RX? (which I now know is not the best incubator) These eggs get very very small insects/parasites crawling on them which I cant find anything about? There are mixed opinions with fungus whether it is too much water and not enough ventilation or they are bad eggs. It is my groups first year of laying but they are healthy weights. I'm putting it down to the bad incubator as it cant reach over 83% humidity but keeps pumping water in. But any advice/input is very much appreciated? Here's an update photo of my oldest stunning baby gecko, just wish i had more to share
  7. We took the lid off to add more ventilation (like they would in the wild) as they were not eating as well and now they are doing great. We have never had issues with them escaping. This may be due to them being young and hide mostly. Or because they are surrounded by water and rarely enter it.
  8. Yea probably just brought over as pets and never bred. But there's always an excess of rumors in our reptile trade...
  9. Surprised we didn't have these ones brought over in the early days considering how popular they are in ausi. Have any of the older members heard of them being here?
  10. I would check out trade me for the morphed geckos as pet stores have no interest in buying morphs. Though the ones at Hollywood Albany do look quite nice.
  11. Marine tanks can take a long time to finish cycling, it is normal for your nitrites to be high after your ammonia has dropped. A water change will help a bit but patience is the key
  12. Preferably axolotls should be kept alone and separate. During feeding time or if they are hungry a neighboring axolotl's arms, legs or gills will be a blind quick snack.
  13. Thanks man, yea the morph game is sometimes unpredictable, i got him when he still had some spots and was very young.
  14. My first 2 week old baby from my hypomelonistic father :bggrn: SHOULD loose most or all its patterns by about two months. Can see already his markings are lighter and more brown/grey than black. And a SUPER SUPER MACK SNOW!! :slfg:
  15. I wouldnt say most captive reptiles 'hunt', but yea the warmth during the day is enough for them to have the energy to efficiantly digest thier food when fed  I have been feeding him predominantly high protien cat food mixed with calcium and vitamins as the breeder has fed cheap catfood to his and they have lived over 30 years (thier expected age limit). This surprised me as cat food has an ingrediant that can irritate the lizard's insides. He seems less keen on live food too, has the occasional mealworm.
  16. They are from a much similar climate like the blue tongue so they dont need heating and i just had a uv light, but my uv light just died so i have had a mercury vapour bulb in there at the moment. (highly recomended for diurnal reptiles).
  17. I would say so :iag: Very nicely done breeding rack man. So is that using heat tape? Though wouldn't the poly hides be difficult to maintain humidity? I just use a small kapati icecream container with a pressed layer of sphagnum moss, similar to adults. Also do you have the 'proper' plastic mealworm dishes like overseas breeders? I mainly use just old mealworm pottle lids as they find the worms easier.
  18. Ahh right forgot about that topic, thanks for the help guys, can get the plan sorted then, if only it was this easy to find the time to put it all together between uni, HFF and an increasing number of hungry mouths.
  19. Ok nice, sounds like an interesting setup man, does the one ceramic heater provide sufficiant heat for two racks? Where did you get the plastic cartons from? Couldnt see any good ones at the warehouse. Would you be able to post a photo of the setup? Cheers
  20. Hi all, Thinking of setting up a breeding rack for my hatchling leopard geckos and wondering who has already done this and where they got their equipment from? Would require the rack, cartons for baby leopard gecko, heat tape (or mats?), thermostats. Tanks seem to be a hassle as with many babies its harder to know whos eating and harder for them to find food, also a higher chance of 'disagreements'. Cheers guys
  21. Thanks guys :bggrn: sorry my camera battery is dead but my cage at the moment is just an exo terra 45x45x60 with wood and other decorations and a UV tube, hes just in there for a few months before the leo eggs hatch and then off to the 120cm and ill never find him again. :slfg:
  22. I wish haha, definatly cunninghams.
  23. Yea thats true about the blue tongue, definitely not illegal if you already have one in Auckland (I meant they are trying to not have anymore in Auckland). But lets head back on topic and let me tell you a little story about the cunninghams skink (stop me if you have heard it). There was once a wildlife sanctuary that had a group of cunninghams that had to close down, one half of the group went to Ivan(reptile park) and the other went to the fella i got mine from, they sat there and ate their cat food for about 24 years and finally the females gave live birth. The 6 or so generations of babies were kept and sold only to friends of this guy. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the parents as they aren't kept at his house but im very happy with my new little guy who is very tame and will sit on my hand as long as he can but is a speed demon when he wants to be. :slfg: One of my males got jealous and posed for a close up. :slfg:
