Sorry, maybe I am using the wrong word here, cause I am Dutch. Kieuw(=Gill)wormen(worms) in Dutch. In google both words are used to my bleieve though. Think Levamisole should have killed that ones (no matter how they are called hahahaha)

I am afraid it isn't. Still believe they both are males. Think one dominant (brighter colored). Females do have a short rounded dorsal fin and a bigger / rounder belly.

Both are males to me. That could be part of te problem !!

Albinos are normally Corydoras Aeneus (bronze) and sometimes Sterbai or Paleatus. There are about 14 species of Aeneus that show different behaviour as well !!! I am keeping 4 species and the Albinos indeed are the most bold ones (and will grow a lot bigger than Trilineatus). Keeping Pygmaeus and Habrosus as well. Almost never see the first, the second are always in front of the tank. Most easy going ones are Paleatus (peppered) Keeping a herd of 8 that are begging for foo at the glass constantly and hoovering the tank afterwards for the smaller parts. Fish with an attitude hahahahaha. But : No Cory, no Glory. The are all great !!!! Cheers Aad

What you're describing sounds to me as a bacterial growth, that isn't dangerious at all and will go after some time. Can't see much at the pic though so I could be wrong.

Okay Alan, but I think they'd better stop importing Dwarf Gouramis from Asia for a while. Humans "derstroyed" this beautifull fish. In the years I am active at several forums this is by far numbre one in the disease-chart !!! Really a shame. Cheers Aad

Infected fish show all kind of symptoms due to the virus. Earlier often was thought they had fish-tb !!!

Ahaaa, but even then the fish doesn't have to show any diseases. Don't know if there is a test for Iridovirus. Best to get these fish from local breeders or imported from other countries than Singapore aso. I'll place an australian document about Iridovirus later.

To my believe all Schwartzi are wild caught and are never tankbred.

Quarantain isn't gonna help I am afraid. DG's get the virus in Asia and some will get ill in a week, others in months or even years !!! It's a shame for such a nice fish. Especially the linebred ones (neon/cobalt/flame) are prone to it. We had a lot problems a like in Holland. The UK-forum gave me the answer !!! It doesn't seem to be contagious to other fishspecies.

This is very often seen with neons nowadays. Earlier thought it to be a bacteria, but it appears to be untreatable and non-contagious to other species (in most cases). After a lot of threads about exactly this i've come to the conclusion this often must be Lymphocystis, caused by a virus (Irido) that's only found at neons and cardinals (probably Black Widows). It's untreatable, but can disappear on it''s own. Only lethal when organs are infected. White mouthulcers are common all over the world (Holland. UK, America, NZ aso). Must have to do with pressurebreeding in Asia (as Dwarf Gourami Disease = another Iridovirus). Cheers Aad

Indeed think it's white spot (in a progressive stage). The parasite will damage the slimecoat and makes the fish vunerable for secundairy infections. White Spot-parasite only can be killed in the swimming-free stage of it's lifecycle (so you don't cure the spots at the fish). That's why you have to treat with most meds for about 5 days in a row or even longer. Dwarfs are also prone to Iridovirus. Awwww, that's really looking awfull Chris. Never seen this. Think this fish is suffering and I would euthanise it (sorry), thinking it's not treatable. First thing I'm thinking about is Dropsy. Bacteria or viruses that damage organs and fluid building up inside. Dropsy though is more a swelling of the belly and often give colourloss as well. This one is coloured perfectly !! What's the size of your tank? Temp isn't so wrong to my believe?. Higher might give problems to other fish i think. Shouldn't change that, ammonia isn't good, could it be overfeeding causing that?

Can you check phosfate as well Sophia. Plants need : Light, Co2, primair fertilizers nitrate and phosfate (10 : 1) and secundair fertilizer as iron, magnesium, pottasium aso. Nitrate of 40 doesn't have to be a problem and never should be nil. Cheers Aad

Think your net will melt as well!!! Are there no desinfectants in NZ? Have to containe chlorine I think. We have stuff called halamid-d. It's worldwide used when there is an outbreak of viruses / bacteria (birdflue fi). Please don't put living fish in a freezer. It's believed to being a cruel way of putting it down overhere. The furan-2 doesn't seem to work or does it? Greetz Aad

Grrrrrrr, Sounds if the new ones brought several problems with them. What did you feed your fish (esp. Loaches)? White stringy poo looks like worms or flagellates.
