You could ask at Bunnings, m10 etc for ply wood cover sheets, they sometimes keep them and sell them at a cheap rate. The problem is they will be inconsistent sizes. I also have access to a discount card my work has at Bunnings that may save you some cash. If you send me the sku numbers for the ply I can go in and see how much I can get it for.

Yeah I can't remember what they are, they are Botha male so I going to either rehome because one of them is a pain in the bum chases all the yellows. Not sure.

Really?? Hmmmm i dont want to have no high plants in my tank.. will look very bare. I think i will just leave them alone.

OK..... Dumb question time. I have some Twisted Val and another tall non twisted plant that have grown rather long aroung 1M, now i am wanting to ecourage more shoots and growth so should i trim the plants back down the the water leval??? Tank height around 550mm. Cheers

I am strugging with val in my discus tank bending in the current, i think i am going to change that to a ducks bill just to see. But i think i really need to trim my val and some other plant i dont know, they are nearly 1M long! Hopying the trim will promote more shoots. On the original topic note, i changed the spray bar last night to the end of the tank with the inlet pipe, put the airstone at the opposite end, and put the HOB filter just past halfway at the opposite end of the spraybar. They seemed to like the change, they are very active around the HOB and a few of them are dancing around the spraybar. :thup: I am keeping a close eye on them.

Number one. Number two. This is the dominant fish in the tank. Is that normally the case when you are a lone species???

I was doing the math also before i went out and purchased.. With all the rocks in there with water displacement also. I think i am going to take your advice and change the position of the spraybar to the end of the tank, obviously shorten it because it wont fit thus that will make the flow faster with fewer holes etc, if it seems to be struggling to get the water back into the tank i will drill some more holes in it. See how they react to the change.

I can also help with lifting etc. Thats a BIG tank!

I have wanted to try the SUNSUN, but by the time you get them shipped here its cheeper to get one at the pet shop. Ok, will get these cichlids some more filtration and flow. Spray bars at the ends of the tanks for the flow?? rather than on the back of the tank?? or would that create a washing machine type flow??

Yeah i know, hence why i chucked in the 300 HOB in when i got the set up. It only came with the CF1000. Will get the internal filter today. Poor cichlids . They have still managed to breed though. Battlers.

Ok, What would you reccommend for a 1200mm x 300mm x 450mm tank holding around 17ish Electric Yellows and a couple of cichlids i dont know what they are, will post a pic if i could get a hand with ID.. (later tonight if i can snap the little beeeeep) I am currently running a CF1000 and Aquaone 300 HOB (which i will be removing to put in my fry tank its just been cycling on the main tank) I am wanting MORE flow in the tank there are dead sopts at both ends of the tank......Wavemaker or Internal Filter?? I am going to change my substrate this weekend back to gravel...... I have currently got white sand and its not ideal in my current set up. Its turing broun and i can see it black in places under the top layer so i am concerned it letting harmfull gases into the tank when it get stirred up by my plecs. I may just be paranoid but i will feel better when i change it. I will wash it and keep it for another tank, one when i will have more current to shift the poo etc around. Am i just being paranoid?? :nilly:
