  1. I didnt see this message! Hellloooo yeah nelson is a small town, i have only lived here for two years. but its growing on me
  2. I am the same, Game Of Thrones is pretty dam good, can dragg sometimes but then is sucks you back in again. I also Torrent/borrow  every week. Looking forward to true blood, I never watched Dexter, but i hear it was bloody good. but like 6 seasons! lots of borrowning to do  Shortland street needs to die! and i cant be in the same room as xfactor! id rather poke pins in my eyes.
  3. ok after much trawling multiple forum sites i have decided to get rid of the airpump when i get my new difusser. I am wanting to get some stem based plants so dont want precious CO2 to escape!
  4. I wondered that re airstone, but was trying to keep oxygen in the water..... TORN! :lar: Oh well it's all trial and error. Should I flag the air stone???? It should be clean, the amount of water changes with these discus, tried to move them into a bare bottom and they were not impressed. So back in the big tank they went  Happy discus again! Note: thanks everyone for your input. :bggrn:
  5. I did put up a pic in the members tanks bt it's no where near finished, I mean when is a tank ever finished. It's a aqua one 980, running a cf1200. Few neons, couple of brislelnoses and juvinile discus. So probably About 180L with displacement. Slowly getting more plants established hence the co2. Optimise growth! I have got some more swords arriving soon fingers crossed.. Taken tonight, Silly cat!!
  6. Can't help myself - this is my Maximus. Aka: Max. Taken tonight, always finds the hot spot !!
  7. Bet me to it!!! I saw zero coke bottles in there!! :rolfl:
  8. Yeah I tried the canister filter idea, was very noisy, and was stressing out my fish as it would build up in my spray bar and the spew out. Think I will give the diffuser you suggested on TM with the DIY, and save for a pressurised system. And then next tank will be hard landscape !! :lar:
  9. Officially saving.... :ton: Shhh don't tell the missus. :gigl:
  10. Good old google. :bggrn: It's the answer for everything theses days. Pretty sure I will be heading the way of the pressure soon. Just waiting for my first harvest off the money tree. :lar:
  11. I didn't think you could use them with a DIY system??? Will do, still trying to perfect my mixture. What is you mixture?? For each 2.25L i am using 2 cups and half to 3/4 teaspoon yeast with a little tomato sauce... Lol.. Something different to eat.
  12. That is on my watchlist. Sold. I figured as much. I tried to do the co2 into the filter intake..... Too much air/co2 in the spray bar. Pain the the ar#e.
  13. Quick question, I have been looking in trade me and online but failing to find a ceramic difuser for tanks bigger than 120L. I am only running a DIY system at the moment with a airstone to difuse at the moment but not happy with the size of the bubble, hence my want for the ceramic one......... Anyway. SO........ Does anyone know where I can get one? Or just get the small one???
  14. no i dont stop it at night, i have heard of people putting a extra airstone on at night or putting a powerhead for more airation (allowing more oxygen in and CO2 out) if your worried about the levels.
  15. Hi All, just thought i was tap onto the end of this thread... i have just started my DIY CO2, all is working fine, BUT instead of using the diffuser, i decided to put it below my filter intake (CF1200) so it distributes throughout the tank etc etc, all was going well and then it was building up in my spray bar and then getting air in the pipes and generally just being noisy. and causing my fish stress! At the moment i have it connected to a airstone but i am not happy with the large bubbles. Has anyone else had this issue? and should i just buy a proper diffuser and flag the filter intake idea?
  16. Angel has now gone. So neons are safe. Now have 6 juvinile discus. :bggrn: They have finally come out from the corner of the tank. Exciting times. :happy1: . Hello there! Bike chick here too, although the poor girl is parked up the garage. Between the car and fish I am haemorrhaging money :ton:
  17. DISASTER!! I should have checked everything before I started. Half way through changing the filters, get all the media in the new one, go to put the lid on and notice a part of the outer casing is broken! :an!gry Have to wait until 1pm before I can go and exchange, they better have another one in stock. sigh!
  18. I did wonder that, trial and error i think is going to be the case here. Just went and brought the filter so will be having a productive ANZAC day. :happy1: Yeah there is quite a bit of room in there, if not say hello to my little friend - cordless drill!!
  19. Eventually i am going to run x2 external canisters for more filtration :bggrn: Dont get me wrong the hood filter does a good job, but lets be honest its a pain in the BEEP in regards to access. Also..... while you are all being so helpfull.. I have an issue with poo hanging around the rocks etc (white sand substrate), and some areas of my tank where there must be poor water movement, i am hoping the new filter will help wth this. should i point the spray bar down towards the bottom of the tank more??
  20. OK. so i am going to stop using my built in hood filter on the aquaone 980, noisy, poor water movement etc etc.. BUT.. i am battling with running them together for a while or putting all the noodles and rinsing the new media in the old filter goodness before i put it in the new CF1200 and just running that one. I was hoping to just swap them over as i want to utilise the area where the power head is to put the pipe in etc. Will this affect my water conditions in a major way???
  21. Just thought i would pop in and say hi I have just got back into the hobby after a few years off. I now remember why i stopped for a while, its very addictive and i am on the way to multiple tank syndrome, What a shame :gigl: Currently have a Aquaone 980 Planted, (new planted 2 weeks) so still a bit sparse, and need to look at my lighting, not happy with what going on under the hood. Also looking to get a External Filter as the inbuilt filter is noisey as, will need to do some modifications for the hood since there is minimal space for cords let alone water pipes! Tossing up between the sunsun ones i have read alot about or the aquaone CF1200, will probably fo CF1200 because being in nelson the shipping makes everything cheap in Trademe and other Retail sites expensive :-? Stock at the moment: 12 x Neons 2 x Bristle Pleco's 2 x Ruby Barbs 1 x Angel 3 x Serpae Tetra Most of these came with the tank, want to rehome the Angel and Ruby Barbs, but i dont think anyone want them so i will just have to make up another tank for them. :ton: Nice to meet you all Nicola
