  3. Great tank! lots of hours put into that tank. Well done looks awesome. Those yellow or white bands?
  4. Guessing you put him in the larger tank?
  5. Sweet specimen mate. Real good colours
  6. Great photos and Aulonocara's mate
  7. Have you sexed them yet? would the brighter ones be male?
  8. Alto fry are under 1cm. Anything over that is basically months and months of hard work :slfg: U can pm me if you want fry
  9. The lot I saw had good body shape and colour as tropheus go. Havent looked into how they where created. They just didnt interest me for the money they where asking and knowing their history. Guess you could goole it
  10. What do you mean dodgy strain other than they are hybrids? I heard there where two imports. One from germany and the other from asia. I saw the two strains side by side in tanks and I couldnt tell the differance :dunno: , other then the price. :nilly:
  11. I notice my Tropheus can handle more but the Alto's seem a little more sinsitive. I guess each in their own :cr8:
  12. I secound Smidy. Dont mess about trying to recreate wild conditions. Just ends up stressing you out and more importantly the fish. I have never checked my water conditions. Even now I dont know what the exact PH is. But I do know that with my gravel and limestone rocks that the PH is well over 7. My Tangs, Tropheus & Alto's, wont stop breeding so all must be good. Just dont do more then 20% water changes for the Tangs. Malawis will handle more.
  13. Been in the hobby for years and have never known of any other lake victoria cichlids other than brown haps in the country.
  14. Probably Tangs but I have no problem with my Malawi. If you are near west akld come have a look at my setup. Might give you a better idea. Just PM me
  15. dont bother with fry tanks for malawi cichlids. the 300x600x300 will work fine for them. just keep a few fry tanks for Tangs if you gonna breed them aswell. I have 9x 1500x800x800 which I find to big and doesnt work well.
  16. lelupi and julidachromis would just be food for the fronts. Plus they would just be to stressed. I wouldnt do it.
  17. It shouldnt be a problem (even though I havent paired these species together). If you feed them NLS or Nutrafin Max, as I feed my tropheus, they should be sweet. No difference as having tropheus and julidachromis living together.
  18. aaahhh what? Looks like its going to be dinner for some lucky fish :spop:
  19. Got a bucket full of fry now if you want
  20. Sweet tank & stand. Looking good. You just need some real cichlids now :sml1: :nfs:
  21. I have 6 male & 4 female fryeri (black fins) in with my peacocks and NEVER have problems. As for the red fin fryeri they live happly as a pair.

    My Male Ob

+1 what Ryan said. Aul x Mbuna. The trick is when you breed them and grow them out its best to pick out the Aul shape and continue breeding them. Either sell the Mbuna profile or cull them. Good looking male anyway :nfs:
  23. Yip. just need to grow next batch up
  24. not to sure. ive sold about two dozen on trademe lately.
