  1. If you are going to mix fish, be weary f feeding requirements as some plecs like a meaty based food which mbuna tend to not prefer. I have mixed both plecos and Africans and it turned out very bad for me, so now I am in the one or the other camp.
  2. Yip I think addiction sums it up nicely.

    Tank Update

I like what ever that is in the lat photo. Very cool
  4. Nearly done. One more small rack may go where the heat pump is and then one large rack is going in the middle and it is DONE
  5. Oh right. .. change the other one to the more domonant colour One day I will learn to check before I post
  6. I was told today that if you keep green and red barclayas in the same tank, one will become more dominant and it will the other. Kinda makes me think of what can happen with citrus tress. Anyway, can anyone confirm this as I have just found a red and was planning on keeping the green in the same tank
  7. Are we talking about the same thing? A oil column heater that plugs into the wall?
  8. That I did not know at all. I will make sure to open the door for a few minutes until I go in then.

You are welcome to pay me $100 per cm for my royals when you get here.....
  11. Thanks for that LA. Look at all those cool species in local waters!
  12. I have also changed my heating source from heat pump to oil heater as a trial to make it more economical. So will see if that changes humidity of the room.
  13. Three months in, so far so good They are very low to the ground so that may be helping. Was thinking I could move the greenhouse inside the room over winter, but not sure how I would get light into it. I suspect if glass drops in temp that the plastic probably would as well, although the lady from Bunnings this morning aid she had no problem with her plastic one over winter with her plants.
  14. So I am taking from that a glasshouse would not stay warm enough over winter? I have never had a greenhouse so I am unsure of how warm they stay. Also, you say humidity is not such a big deal, do you think that my tub of stems would grow fine inside the fish room (around 30 degrees) without a glass lid on it then?
  15. Do you have any photos of said set up?? I think i have found a greenhouse that should do the job Did you have your in full sun or part sun? Did it stay warm enough through the winter? Did you have plants in individual pots or in in large mixed containers? Anything else I should know or you would like to share?
  16. If I avoid a carpeting plant and stay with medium light would my current led do the jobbie? My only worry to that would be keeping the red swords red.
  17. Can't say, it is confidential
  18. That is subjective evidence, I doubt it would hold up in court or a submission to MPI. I would advise you againsy adding something similar to your submission. On that note, how is it coming along?
  19. Yeah they are good, I like the tone of light. After the first few weeks the novelty of the changeable stuff wears off, i have found 3 settings I like and change it depending on my mood and sometimes time of day. The remote is a very good bonus.
  20. White mold has seemed to have disappeared in the hole. Most of the original leaves have melted off and most plants have begun to regrown new ones. I have taken all of the stems out and added them to another, and have a few more crypts, anubias and swords to add over the week when I get a few more containers.
  21. Was tying to avoid MH if possible as I do not want to drill more holes in the ceiling, but if I have to I have to. I have not used LED for plants yet, so they are a possible option. I have started looking into the Giesemann range of LED's, they look impressive, with a price tag to match.
