  1. Don't do it. It's going to scratch like crazy.
  2. How bad is the crack? Is it a moulded tank? Photos?
  3. Clearly what he meant is it's good in theory but in practice it doesn't work.
  4. Personally I'd buy a proper regulator and a 5kg bottle and be done with it. Nope, all propriaterly connectors.
  5. Freakin government. First, they doubled the ACC levies for motorcyclists by portraying the motorcyclists as baby-killing criminals to the general public, thus putting a dent in one of my hobbies. Now, they want my fish too. I see that recently, they've turned on bicyclists as well. I don't think we're far from a revolution.

The cylinder (bottle) alone is $200. Regulator + solenoid + needle valve is $80. Bubble counter (optional, but recommended) $10, diffuser $15, check valve $10, CO² tubing $10 (approximately) All prices except cylinder are in USD. If you're going to import do it now, the exchange rate is great. Reg + Solenoid + Needle Valve: http://cgi.ebay.com/A-100-CO2-Regulator ... 0407770055 Bubble Counter: http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-C02-Bubble-Cou ... 255ea4f172 Diffuser: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rhinox-2000-Live-ad ... 415078aba9 ^ (I used a power head + internal diffuser, more efficient but takes up a lot of space) Brass Check Valve: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rhinox-Check-Valve- ... 3caa4c4e91 CO² resistant tubing: http://cgi.ebay.com/Rhinox-Co2-Diffuser ... 3eea962726 All in all, the complete setup will set you back around $400.

Give this place a call. They'll sell you a proper cylinder + do refills. You have to organise your own regulator, solenoid, needle valve, diffuser, check valve and CO² resistant tubing. I imported mine.

That's the most rangi pressurised CO² setup I've seen.
  9. It's not an Aqua One Tank, it was one of these: http://www.haqos.com/productn.asp?ArticleID=408 The guy I got it from gave me a 1yr warranty, and it's only been 10 months. Will ring up and see what we can do tomorrow.
  10. Yeah it was level, if it wasn't, you'd expect a crack to show closer in the center, and not right on a corner wouldn't you?
  11. Not at all, I've still got my smaller 38L and a even smaller 10L. I'm just worried about my puffers, they're VERY unhappy about being evicted.
  12. Free plants, Auckland area, pick them up quick. I have nowhere to put them. As you can see my 38L tank is already decked out pretty hard. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=49209
  13. Here are the before shots: ^ Left Side ^ Right Side
  14. Sitting on my computer, I hear what sounds like a deep fryer. My gf runs to our room, and yells out my name. I honestly thought she was trolling me. The 'deep fryer' sound was actually the sound of water leaking out at an alarming rate all over the carpet. I go into the bedroom room, see this: ^ Crack ^ Crack ^ Crack ^ Smaller tanks / plants being rescued into blue bucket ^ Wet carpet ^ Check the crack on the right side! ^ My smaller tank. Rescued all 5 puffers into it. ^ Plant rescue bucket. ^ Tank emptied, ready for removal. Check the MASSIVE crack, from the top to the bottom, and around the corner. ^ I taped up the tank for removal because I was afraid the only thing holding the shattered glass in place was the top and bottom plastic rims. ^ Got a night stand with rollers on the bottom and rolled it out of the house ^ Final resting place. It was a molded front tank (not bow front), so there's no chances of fixing it pretty much. G_G I didn't lose any fish, which I am VERY happy about. There was no warning... it just went. I'm glad I was home, or else I'd be coming home to a tank of dead fish.

It would, but it'd run out much quicker and it'd cost significantly more than just getting a proper setup. The buy in cost isn't that much higher.
  16. I've got three just like the topmost one in the image that livingart posted. One runs the CO² solenoid, one runs the smaller tank light (~30w) and one runs my twin 2 x T5HO fixtures (156w). All been running for about a year almost, they work great. 100% digital with a relay, not mechanical like the others.

  18. How did you do your overflow?
  19. You can get them from petrol stations, $30/day iirc.
