  1. A little update out of the new fish room: This one fell out of my Asia Blau strain in the 4th generation of inbreeding. Will try to setup a new line with him since he is a really nice double sword. Two very nice looking young Black Bar Endler. I like the pattern on their caudal fins. Probably in F6 of my Black Bar Endler two blond ones showed up. They are still very young and it is hard to tell how the male will look like once fully matured. But worth setting up another tank for them Red Chest Endler are just so cute... The "Blue Flames" are now more mature and some of them are turning more into a green-ish look. Others are showing pretty ugly caudal fins. That's the reason to wait for maturity and then pick the best male. Nice Brimstone Swallow Tail female. Just the bottom part of the caudal fin is more extended then the upper half which isn't ideal. Random male of the Tiger Platies. Cheers, JaSa

Hi there, just make sure you leave it for about 14 days to cure 100% and then put it into a bucket of water that you change often until it wont push the pH anymore. Otherwise the same will happen in your tank and a pH of 8 or 9 isn't really pleasant for most fish... Cheers, JaSa
  3. How does their feces look like? If it is white-ish then it is most likely a nematode (roundworm) infestation (which comes in hand with protozoan most of the time) which would blend in with the other symptoms you posted. BUT levamisole should have nuked the roundworm! Old stock / dose rate correct / vac paralysed worms after treatment from sand? If you wanna go for Prazi: Droncit (NOT Drontal!) from the Vet if you are in a hurry. Tablet with 50mg costs $1.20 and will treat 25ltr water. Clean filter, clean sand and do 50% water change. Then crush tablet(s) and dose for 8 to 12h; vac sand again to get rid of any paralysed worms; 80% water change. Repeat after 6 days - same rules for levamisole. But before going Prazi I would try malachite green for the protozoan first - see reason above. Good luck, JaSa
  4. Hi there Fast working - well done! I can only see one problem: There is no vapor barrier between the insulation and the (warm) room and you used regular GibBord instead of the green stuff for bath rooms. This means the warm, humid air from your fish room will slowly transmit through the Gib and at some stage will reach the dew point somewhere inside the insulation. Here the insulation will get wet over time which will render it useless and will cause mould. Most likely in winter - see examples below. The other problem are the flush boxes and the cables. There is no way to seal this properly and the process will be even greater here. Little example: Fish room temperature = 25C Relative humidity = 60% Dew point = 16C Fish room temperature = 23C Relative humidity = 50% Dew point = 12C A vapor barrier will keep the inner air and the outer air separate so there is no transmission and therefore no accumulation of moisture. Building paper on the outside only protects the insulation from water, that manages to penetrate the outside of a building. It is NOT a vapor barrier; this has to be installed on the "warm" side of the insulation = behind the plaster board. External flush boxes and external wiring don't penetrate the vapor barrier and the little holes to mount the flush boxes can be sealed with silicone. Cheers, JaSa
  5. Hi Get a 25kg of "Fine AG-Salt" from RD1 or Farmlands for around $11.00. If they have a damaged bag you will get it most times for 1/2 price. Has got anticaking agent in it but seems to work for me ... Specs: CLICK Cheers, JaSa
  6. Longfin as in Swallow Tail? If yes, swimming here.
  7. Many people multiply guppies - very few breed them ...
  8. Inbreeding is the beginning of every new strain and a usefull tool in the hand of the breeder. Nothing wrong with it in general - as long as you keep an eye on deformation, vitality, fertility and longevity of the offspring. Since you dont have any informations about the origin of your stock, it will be a bit of a gamble... Cheers, JaSa
  9. Very nice and healthy looking fish - like it a lot ! Keep on posting pictures of your strains... Cheers, JaSa

    Japan Blue

Hi Redwood Aquatics imported them back then apparently... I have some (look alike) showing up in a Asia Blau strain every now and then but haven't the room to line breed them atm so I thought a fixed strain saves me some time. But looks like they are not out there - so they might be good sellers to breed for *ggg* Cheers, JaSa
