  1. whats a good foreground plant that can be carpeted and thats not too hard to maintain
  2. wooo congratz, im trying with my pair as well...few months in few batch of eggs no luck so far =/
  3. it should be fine to put in another female similar size, im not sure about why the male killed the female but i've got a tank of20 convicts they just breed when they feel like it, i think one of the reason why your female lost interest in breeding its cause you moved them? they need time to settle in before they are comfortable with breeding hope that helps?
  4. ah thanks, i was going to use xmas moss at first as it looks nicer but i couldnt find that amount of xmas moss at the time
  5. so i've always wanted to make a moss wall as back ground but just never really attempted till two weeks ago, just wanted to know if if theres a way to make the java moss grow faster? like more light or nutrient? cause it seems it haven't really grow at all
  6. The tank is 200 liter i dont have a co2 drop checker, at first i thought it was the co2 but from two days ago i been taking out the co2 as the lights go out but fish were still going fine, ive got a air pump also running 24/7 the only abnormal thing i notice was i added two new mollies in 3days ago they are just extremely nervous always hiding behind things or under things when i come near even with the 1 female that was a total show off have gone hiding with them also. the Ph is a stable 6.6 or 6.8 for a long while, it was on 6 before i buffered it up about 3months ago, i do about 20-25% water change every week and sometimes wash the filter, i have a fluval u4 in there i changed the old filters out one by one over a few weeks as it was filled with muddly like stuff, even with new filter wool its still getting alot of those. i add about 5-10mls of PMDD cause im not sure how much i was suppose to add....yesterday when i check nitrite is at 0 and the nitrate is at 5ppm the kh i think its 50-100ppm, i think i will try increase the light hours and cut off most of the dying leaves and see..i cant really move all the rest of the fish as i only have a tiny 50liter spare so i wil try quickly set it up and see..
  7. yea i m just not sure if its actually the same or if i posted in the right place..
  8. ....correction, another just died as i was typing this out so 12..
  9. ive got 4 tubes of 54w T5 10000k lights, but i only have 2 on for 5-6hours a day cause there's a constant growth of green spots on my glass that i need to scrape off every 2days... ive got 2 bottles of diy co2 running as well as dosing with PMDD twice to four times a week, i used to add flourish comprehensive, iron and phosphorus but ran out so i kind of stopped ive got JBL balls all around the tank, perhaps i should add a few right under those plants?, but if see on a leave on the back ground the amazon sword plant its got holes like its being eaten..ive already taken out the plecos yet its still continuing to have holes... i remember once when this tank was lush and colorful a while ago...now it just looks like its dying and filled with death with the fish sudden death toll gone to 11 in 3 days..
  10. sadly the last of my fighter in my tank is gone..before it died she had her head dipped into plants like she have no control on her head, also i notice compare to yesterday that her head gone white like the skins coming off? on one of the pictures the white ring is just bubbles too much light from the t5's picked up by the camera sigh..this brings a total death toll to 11 fish..over 3 days ive treated the tank with Prazi yesterday im hoping it wil prevent further fish dying but is there anything else i can do?
  11. the plants were great for when the first few months i got them and its now they turned into this..its like this a month or so now thought they would recover by them selves but guess now
  12. i change water every week about 15-20% i just did one yesterday.. its like suddenly the whole tank is filled with death with fish dying randomly and fish being destroy cause of infections...
  13. really? so i can treat the whole tank with it? or at a different tank then move it back? and according to some other fish forum i read, i should treat all infected fish with 5ml of meth blue to 20liter of water on a different tank and then move the fish back but so far i dont have any signs worms or parasites but should i do it to be safe?
  14. due to unknown cause lost 1 male dragon fighter, 1 crown tail female fighter, 1 white male sail fin, 1 cardinal, 1 glow light.. and then had to destroy one rasbora infected with some sort of tubifex worm transfered from cardinals sigh..never felt so bad
  15. according to Hff's diagnoses i had 2 cardinals that had worms borrowed inside under their scales and eating them, the only was to humanly destroy them so i did with a total of 4 + 1 rasbora either with the worm already or suspect seem like its already got it just incase. anyone else had this problem? cause they said that since the cardinals are still wild caught it is often they get these worms and they havent figured out any other treatment for it?
  16. OMG now one of my cardinals just died, i havent even turn the lights off? theres something unknown killing my fishy!
  17. after going to hff i think it might have been a sudden lack of oxygen? they said the plants at night take in oxygen so even with my air pump going 24/7 my co2 at night just over whelms it? thats the only possible diagnosis so far
  18. just check the nitrite is at 0 and the nitrate is at 5ppm, the co2 is been set up for atleast 6months, i just found in the thick java moss cluster a dead rasbora and a female fighter from the condition i think they all died around the same time, they all been fine for atleast a month, had the mollies for about 3months and the fighters 1 month im just surprised to suddenly find 5 dead. before the male fighter die he was just on the bottom gone side ways leaning against some plants. edit: the ph's been stable at 6.8 for atleast a month also from 6 before i buffered up abit
  19. another thing that pop to my head is that i got two bottles off diy co2 going on in the 200L but i have a air pump going with the filter also so i still cant be sure..
  20. i woke up today to find my male sail fin mollie dead and now my dragon male fighter it looks like its giving up...they were one of the happiest fishes in the tank, they have no injury's no nips perfectly fine, i tested the ammonia and its at 0 i dont know what else could have caused it, any ideas?
  21. well ive got a whole worm farm in my garden so im not worry about that, just that i want him to stay on pellets..hes been on the same stuff for years just very weird to me the sudden change and fuss
  22. i just tried another method of feeding, i crushed the pellets and let it sink near the male jag and i see him take it in and spit it out and repeat a few times then swallows, thats the only time i see him eat..
  23. then my jags are just odd ones out...they dont take shrimp nor beef heart only worms..i only have the 2 in the tank, the female just chops away at the pellets but the males gone more and more quiet
  24. ever since i got my jag hes been fed on Hikari cichlid gold and once a while earthworms but just 2-3 weeks ago hes started picking he doesn't eat the hikari he just takes it in and spits it out and by the time he spits it out the female thats in the tank have already eaten everything, he eats blood worms and earthworms all happy and fine..i havent giving him anything else for a week and hes stil like that should i keep starving him?
