Planning to replant low-tech tank - any tips?
water changes are a must! i change 50% weekly minimum. plants really like water changes. other low light plants. cryptocoryne species are great low light plants. they come in numerous shapes ,sizes and colours. when recieveing new plants give them a gentel rinse under the tap, thats all i do. also remove damaged leaves, as thesewill just die and rot in your tank.

i think its staghorn. i read here http://www.aquariumalgae.blogspot.cz/ that it may be old dieing leaves leaking nutrients. this would make sense as the old fissidens leaves are decaying. ill do my best to remove old leaves and if i get my hands on excel/easy carbo will start to spot dose.

Echinodorus spp.
Good luck finding altums, never heard of any in nz. If they are you can bet they wont be cheap. The sword Looks like its lacking Iron, this could be a Iron dificiency. Or Magnesium, as it required for the uptake of iron.
