What plants do you think i should put in my 60x30x30 amazonian/asian aquarium? Will be keeping 5 Kuhli loaches, 2 apisto cichlids and 7 golden pencilfish in the settup Need foreground, midground and background plants. all suggestions welcome

cool plants! do you know where I can get hold of cockatoo dwarf cichlids and pencils? pets unlimited in Palmy has both golden and banded Kuhlis in stock. Online picture of banded Kuhli on the Pets Unlimited website looks a little pale and washed out, does the colour brightness vary from loach to loach or do they come into a ritcher colour when in a comfortabl;e environment?

sorry to hear your Christmas was so bad mine was real good. Dad made the coolest auqarium lid for me! pity my brother spoiled the day though Are all 3 years olds permenantly cranky?

it is not a specialzed auqarium light so does not say. I've got it positioned quite a good way up from the waterline so it will not get splashed (nor do these fish readily splash or jump as far as i know of) If it does give off quite a bit of heat should I keep water temperature a bit lower than recommended? (while cycling tank i'll get it to the right temp)

making structure out of large driftwood and river rocks, for kuhlis to hide in. This may limit swimming room for pencilfish if they are very active but i don't think the apistos wil mind. Don't pencilfish grow to be 6cm long? if so a shoal of 7 would be a bit crowded confined in a tank my size I think Dad made me a great christmas present, its a real cool wooden auquarium lid with a light! :happy2:

2 Cockatoo dwarf cichlids 5 kuhli & golden Kuhli loaches 5 pencilfish Is this enough for my tank (am trying to go with a colour theme so no cardinals)

would the apistos be happiest if they were the only fish in the tank (besides Kuhlis) or should i get golden pencilfish as well?

great! still making a cave out of bogwood and river rocks for fish to hide in but will take your advice about the java fern

Instead of platys and cardinals are those cockatoo dwarf cichlids still an option; making lots of caves out of river rocks so thought if they would'nt be too agressive towards the Kuhlis a pair of those could have the tank to themselves and would really enjoy the caves.

I'll make sure my brother won't be in the same room as the fish but can't really do much about the outside noise. :roll: The guppy fritters, i suppose would taste the same as whitebait and would be great for keeping their numbers down! Have decided on getting platys cardinals and Kuhlis. Which of these should i put in the tank first after cycling?

I've heard you get to see more of them if they are in larger groups. Would they be happier and more confident in a single species tank?
