  1. yes I was a bit worried about having the Kuhlis posted in case anything went wrong and they died. Wellington/ Palmerston isnt far i'm sure we could make a trip and get some there!
  2. Thats great if they don't cause any problems!
  3. they do sound interesting but they do tend to become a little agressive when breeding i think, and them being territorial might be a bit of a problem around the other fish.
  4. well the fish I really desparately want is a cleaner fish! (I'm not a big fan of Cichlids) All the others I'm just starting to work out now but I think this is roughly the numbers I would be having 2-3 platys 5 hatchetfish 10 tetras 3 Kuhli loaches 5 corys
  5. I cant really get to hollywood fish farm from where I am, as I can't yet drive and have parents who wont drive me but would the kuhlis survive getting posted or do they have them somewhere in hamilton because I will be going there soon (I hope) for Parachute.
  6. 2 or 3 platys 5 hatchetfish 10 cardinal tetra 5 corys 3 Kuhli loaches I think this is a good bunch of fish for my aquarium but correct me if I'm wrong!
  7. I have got an Aqua One 101F Maxi which is an internal mechanical filter. I am not sure whether this will be enough with so many fish but the petshop advised taht this would be the best for my tank. cardinal tetras are very nice I am considering them over the others I do love the apistos but am worried about how territorial they get when breeding
  8. our petshop do get them in sometimes but don't have them currently I'm from Masterton and thats quite far away from all the good fish outlets i think.
  9. I am trying to get 3 kuhli loaches for my aquarium and don't know what price they come at or where to find them? Any help much appreciated
  10. platys? would a pair or trio of those go nicely in my tank along with 10 tetras 5 cories 3 kuhli loaches 5 hatchetfish or would these be too many fish for my tank
  11. Platys? or mabey guppies or black mollies?
  12. Are platys semi shoalers? or would they be good in a pair or trio because they look to be quite hardy and peaceful. i think they would be quite nice in an aquarium my size and would add a good splash of colour. But not sure if they're suited to amazonian tank? They would be an alternative to aggressive cockatoo chichlids or delicate dwarf gouramis
  13. by pleco i meant the bristlenose (i don't think there are any other plecos small enough for my aquarium) And if the apistos would be too aggressive when breeding in a pair and dwarf gouramis too delicate could anyone suggest a fish I could keep in a pair for my size tank prehaps a few platys?
  14. I roughly know what i'm going to get now A pair if Apisto. agassizii 'Double Red' or cacatuoides or dwarf gourami 10x Tetras (still debating what type to get) 5 cories, or plecs or small catfish and 3 Kuhli loaches 5 Golden Pencilfish, or Zebra danios, or 3 Hatchetfish (I still can't decide which fish exactly to get but it will be easier when my tank decor and plants are set up to choose what looks nicest)
  15. Thanks everyone now I'm pretty sure what I want to keep in my aquarium now Heres the list again just to confirming - A pair of Apisto. Agassizi or Cacatuoides or dwarf Gourami - 10 cardinal, or emperor, or rummynosed, or penguin, or glowlight tetra - 5 corys, or plecs, or small catfish and 3 kuhli loaches 5 golden pencilfish or zebra danios or hatchetfish (I'm going to have to get my tank vegetation and decor sorted first so I can work out which of these fish would look nicest in my tank)
  16. thanks! That sounds like a more realistic number, the pencilfish or the danios and the hatchetfish would be way too many I think. Thats good if i can increse the number of corys, plecs, or small catfish, would 5 be enough? because I was thinking of getting 3 kuhlis and since chichlids can be quite territorial especially when breeding I dont want to use up too much space on the tank floor. yes these topics are part of my first thread, but when i created my first topic after awhile people stopped answering my questions so i thought that they had decided all my questions on this topic were answered. So i created more topics still after the same answers only to discover people still answering my first topic! lol!
  17. Thanks! I was just going of a picture in a book for the zebra danios. They look so much more attractive in the book. Gorgeous pale banding and little mouth barbels. Sort of like catfish.. But golden pencilfish look so much nicer than the petshop danios.
  18. would 2 dwarf gouramis or cokatoo dwarf chichlids 10 cardinal, or emperor, or rummynosed tetra 2 corys and 3 kuhli loaches 5 golden pencilfish or zebra danios and 3 marbled hatchetfish be ok for a 60x30x30
  19. [Joefish wrote] Hi Khuli Loach, If I were you, I would start with a small 'Amazon' type tank, with: A pair if Apisto. agassizii 'Double Red' or cacatuoides 10x Cardinal Tetras (these are hardier than Neons, live longer, and have more colour) About 5 Otos or cories, and maybe a small fancy Pleco, like Dekeyseria brachyura L168 5 Golden Pencilfish 3 Hatchetfish (I have to agree with you, they are awesome!) I dont know whether or not these many fish will be happy in a tank size 60x30x30 ( I would only keep them if they are happy being in these numbers in this size tank, not just tolerating these conditions) Note: Dekeyseria brachyura L168 (out of the question)
  20. would the fish be very happy getting kept at that number or would they be more happy in smaller numbers. Theres quite a bit of difference between fish tolerating their tank or enjoying it.
  21. If so does anyone know a good one or where to buy it? Or could you make one?
  22. Its a very nice fish but at that price I'd never afford it!
