  1. Good to hear you are getting things back to normal after the disaster Caryl. Might be a good time to consider a dedicated outlet.. or some form of alarm or visual warning. Bill.
  2. Shiuh said: It is mainly "personal" details we are concerned about Shiuh.. like saying that .. Fred.. XXX lives at.. 324 XXX Street and his phone number is.. XXXXXX. These are personal details.. whereas helping a member out with the location of a store is fine. Bill.
  3. Hi Tsar, One heater can run several tanks in certain situations. You "could" set up overflows similar to this.. or use hockey type flows from one tank to the next. http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/grumpy ... 0Tanks.htm Bill.
  4. The ones I used to use.. (which I am pretty sure were for human use..).. were used for our incubators for egg hatching.. and they certainly didn't "start" at 35c. Other types we had were the long glass ones.. possibly for brewing.. can't remember. Both types were around 6mm diam. Bill.
  5. SteveA said: This was "possibly" done because the topic had no general classification.. and was placed where most of the off classification topics end up. A "Photography" section is being considered by the Admins BTW. OK.. Last resort.. If you want to copy your post from RC with all the links to the new resized pics.. and send me a PM.. I will re-post the links here at the start of the thread which will allow your pics to show up. Mods are here to help and make things suitable for all members.. no matter what system they use. Bill.
  6. Not wanting to push the issue.. but RC also has a cap on file sizes.. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php? .. but I see you managed to abide by their regs... (Standard on most sites) .. and you made them even smaller... (500x396) Wonderful pics BTW Pity you couldn't be bothered. BTW: There were 833 members online there tonight. Hope some of them find the time to give you some feedback like you have had here Bill.
  7. SteveA said: And we too have better things to do than sit and wait for ten oversize pics to download. Bill.
  8. SteveA.. Read this.. it may clarify things. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/new-ta ... tml#141443 You say: The site is what it is because the members "DO" care. Taking the attitude.. I am not sure I can be bothered. .. is a poor way to go on. Your second lot of pics.. (as I said).. were fine, and they loaded at four times the speed of your first pic in the first set of links. I offered you a simple "helpful" solution.. but.. Oh yes.. "You can't be bothered" Your loss. Bill Mod.
  9. Reef-Man.. AKA.. Pleco-Man.. is no longer with us, so this thread is now locked to avoid confusion and un-required posts. Bill Mod.
  10. Sharn said: Well.. Had I been a newcomer to the hobby I think you would have "certainly" put "me" off keeping fish. Certainly the choice of fish was "not" the best for a newly set up tank.. but your methods of conveying this were a little over the top.. to say the least. Also.. Quotes like this.. .. are not doing the hobby "any" good at all. Just because your local LFS gives poor advice occasionally.. it is no reason to put "all" LFS's into this catagory. Bill.
  11. Walter is right.. 640x480 is fine. Duke: Your pic is now showing up as a 160x120. Your first set of pics were great.. and the right size. You have gone from one exteme to the other I will edit out the posts in the early hours of the morning, as there are too many post to check at the moment. EDIT: As requested.. removed some of the posts that were duplicate links. Left the others as they have other info on them. Thanks, Bill.
  12. Duke said: Your pics are 1024x768... TOO BIG. The ones you posted further back in the article were 568x426... NOT 256x129. Do you ACTUALLY think I .. and others.. enjoy sitting here at all hours of the night and day waiting for your huge pics to download while the screen is jumping about all over.. ? The rules are the rules. If you don't like them.. then post your pics elsewhere. As above... The rules are the rules. If you don't like them.. then post your pics elsewhere. Let's just clear something up here. If you DO decide to wait for the oversize pics to download.. then the next time you view they MAY have been resized by the system.. so then on viewing you would "presume" that they are the right size.. when in fact they are not. Go to the SW Members Tank section for a re-sizer. The pics on your storage site need to be within the limits BEFORE you submit them.. NOT after they have been downloaded. Bill Mod.
  13. Sorry.. Don't know what happened there. I was thinking the postings were in the FW or somewhere.. and got the references mixed up with "FW Seahorses" Bill.
  14. Craft shops sell Dacron.. (which is the name of the filling in Soft Toys.. Duvets.. Ski Gear etc) Furniture Manufacturers also use it to fill Cushions and such. If you are pushed for some in a hurry.. then buy a couple of Dacron filled pillows from the Warehouse.. cheap as. Bill.
  15. There are a number of threads running here on Seahorses. The Search feature is inactive at the mo.. but if you look under the SW Section.. Freshwater.. or Beginners.. you should spot them easily. Bill.
  16. I meant the glass type that you put under your tongue.. not the digi ones Bill.
  17. For supreme accuracy.. go to the Chemist and get one for testing human temps. They have much strickter quality control on these. Then check your others against it... you "may" be surprised at the variations. Zev wrote: Last batch of these I bought (6).. there were two that "almost" gave the right temp.. the other four went in the bin. Now I get into the habit of testing the temp through the glass with the back of my hand as I feed out each day... mind you.. I'm not bothered about a degree or two either way.. so this works for me Bill.
  18. Hi Aquaman.. Welcome to the NZ Fishroom 80G is pretty small.. so would it be possible to make up a light wooden frame with a double skin of poly fastened to it. This would create a sort of thermal blanket if you designed it to have an air gap between the sheets of poly. Better than poly is the stuff they call Agrathane .. (I think).. and is what they use for the covering of Tunnel Houses. Often when these people in the Horticultural business "re-skin" their tunnel houses they just dump the old stuff.. so it might be worth asking around.. as the Agrathane is a lot more durable than the poly. Hope you enjoy your visits. Bill.
  19. Real nice of you to join us Steve.. Welcome to New Zealand Lots of interest here in the Saltwater section, so you should find lots to read and perhaps find a few local contacts. Must have been shattering to leave your gear behind.. but hopefully you will be soon licking the salt off your fingers as you set up again Fantastic pic BTW. Bill.
  20. Suphew.. Iduncan, You were both asked politely to stay on topic.. but "still" continue to break the rules.. You are both posting to create a reaction from each other.. which again has nothing to do with the topic. To avoid you "both" being suspended.. the topic will be locked till further notice. Bill. Mod.
  21. Suphew.. IDuncan.. It's about time you two guys had another warning about your constant bickering and ruining other members threads. Comment for the day by Suphew.. Time you both considered this. Please stay on topic or this will end up as yet another locked thread. Bill Mod.

    Tiger barbs!

Back in the UK I built a 4'x4'x4' wooden tank that I had over 500 Tiger Barbs in it. Was the most spectacular sight you would ever wish to see, and one we never grew tired of watching. Bill.
  25. Mmmm.. Have to admit.. I lick my finger also.. but to get a nice even bead of silicone up the seams I use the cap from a felt tipped pen. Just use the "open" end and place it at a sharpish angle and draw it gently along the seam. Result... Perfect smooth even finish Bill.
