  1. They are solid plastic edges with white meshy stuff over them... I have a Marina S20 slim filter. They didn't have cartridges esp. for that model there. But am I right in saying that you can fill the filter with stones/gritty stuff (lol) that come in big bags that are the same thing? Not sure what they're called but the guy pointed them out to me when I asked him about it. If I can, then I'll just use those instead.
  2. So I got some replacement cartridges for my filter when I purchased it and they didn't have ones with the exact model I bought on the packet. I asked someone at the counter and he just got the same ones and I asked him if they'd fit and he said they should. Well they don't. So I put them in as far as they would go. The filter takes 4 and I only replaced 2. So next weekend it will be off to Animates again to get something else.
  3. Good to know all this thanks
  4. Just finished changing bedding and in process of washing bedding because #1 threw up in her bed. I hate winter.... I'm the only one who hasn't been sick all winter. My hubby just had Tonsillitis two weeks ago. Both girls have had some horrible virus for weeks that just doesn't want to let up. Now Sophie has spots again and Abby has a tummy bug.
  5. Yup there comes a time when enough is enough ya know. It's not worth spending $1-2K a year on a car that is only insured for $4700 and when we sell it we probably won't even get $1k for it.... it is 17 years old. :sage:
  6. You name it it's probably been replaced. I know the alternator has been replaced. I think that was the problem the last time it broke down when hubby went to Mitre 10 and got stuck there :an!gry As for the headlights I wouldn't have a clue as I don't drive. Don't have a license. My hubby is the only one that could tell you.
  7. That is true but when you're running out of places to put them you've got to wonder LOL
  8. I saw those Spongebob decorations at Animates last Friday. I am thinking of getting some for the kids.
  9. I think we've had about 3-4 replacement batteries for this car :an!gry
  10. lol My hubby reckons Nissans are good He wants to get a Nissan when we get the new car.
  11. Sorry that should say about $1000 a year, in the last 3 years.
  12. Well I would say we've spent at least $500 a year on repairs for this car and in the last 3 years about $2000 in one year.... So it is costing too much now.
  13. It's a Nissan Primera 1994. My hubby got it in 2001. We called a mobile mechanic just to get it back on the road ASAP because with kids we really need it ... we have to do grocery shopping and it's just a real inconvenience. Anyway, will cost about $320 and we're waiting on him now. I'm not sure he's going to end up coming. Why does it ALWAYS break down on Friday or Saturday?! LOL :an!gry Why can't it break down on Monday or during the week. It has to break down over the weekend when no one is open and my hubby will probably end up having to catch the train to work early in the morning as he starts at 7am and pay for a taxi to the train station and then train to work. Then he might have to finish early to get the car from the garage. ARGH Anyway, so yeah it may be more expensive to get the mobile mechanic around but he won't have to worry about taxis and trains on Monday morning and also after work.
  14. My fav kids stories are - The Very Hungry Caterpillar Where The Wild Things Are Billy Goats Gruff Guess How Much I Love You Dr Seuss esp. The Cat In The Hat Hairy Maclary Winnie The Pooh We have way too many books here.... I'm probably going to pass on quite a few to my little sister who has a 19 month old boy soon. Seriously, I don't believe there is a fairy tale we don't have. We have Hansel and Gretel, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack and the beanstalk, .................. I collected a whole lot of books when I was working, for when I had kids LOL Oh another book I LOVE is Leo The Lop which is about a lop eared rabbit. I can't remember the author but I found a whole lot of his books at a church fair. I'm really bad when I find books at fairs, garage sales....
  15. So we were just leaving home last night and the clutch cable broke :an!gry Our car is 17 years old and we are just in the process of getting a new garage put up and THEN we are getting a new car. We have the money to get it now but hubby is intent on getting the new garage first  I'm so over it. This is the second time in a month or so that it's broken down and now we're going to spend more money on it when we're just going to end up selling it anyway GRRR and I don't even think we'll recover the costs when we sell it because it's so old.
  16. So I found a section in my Yates Garden Guide book about Aquatic plants and some fish diseases/problems. Their recommendation for all of them is to put the fish into a salt treatment (Tbsp per 5L) for two hours. Is that like OLD or what? Or is this something still done?
  17. Just briefly... I managed to get my gravel vacuum to work today Tank is clean and fish are happy.
  18. I'll take your word for it lol I haven't seen The Godfather.
