  1. Hi Well, for a few days I have thought I have a "worm problem" in my Axolotl tank, but then I inherited an awesome microscope from my Opa and realized that these worms are not worms - they have spikes and legs and move by sort of shuffling along... If we cant figure it out, I will draw a detailed picture from the microscope, but they are probably quite common?? They seem to be building these "structures" made up of thin tube-like protrusions around my tank: P.S. Don't worry, my Axolotls are in another temporary tank while the "worms" are still in their tank.
  2. Yes, I want to do BSc. I thought it was hard to get into? I could be wrong though... Hmm, I'm OK a History as well, but I don't think I would bother doing another Bachelor as I probably wouldn't do that well and it would be a waste of some money
  3. Thanks everyone! I just thought to ring up the University and managed to get my application reinstated by explaining my situation, so I have another chance also!! (They will let me know in January when results come out) If I don't get in, I will have to think about it, but it is great to hear different views/takes on what I should do! I don't really mind missing the social side of 7th Form to be honest if that's what you mean...And yes, I do plan on getting a part-time job when I get to Uni.
  4. Hi Can't pay for Otago (and my parents wouldn't let me go). Yeah, thats why I thought if Waikato won't take Discretionary entrants anymore, Auckland probably wouldn't either. Thanks
  5. No, Waikato said No, Auckland is Pending, but I think they will probably say No too.
  6. Hi Well, this is unusual, but I don't know who to ask so.... (sorry some of it sounds self-centred and boastful) OK, so I am in Year 12 this year and I wanted to go to university next year but due to the number of people going to University they won't take discretionary entrants (They won't even wait until my exam results come out - I am declined). I did get into the Halls of Residence though, which was weird. I am good at Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics and want to become a research Scientist. I have a scholarship to St Cuthberts College, great exam results etc etc. Another thing is that I believe St Cuths may have written a bad recommendation for me as they did not want me to leave as it looks "bad for the school" (but thats another story...) Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do next year other than playing Solitaire in class all year from boredom (the teachers don't even care anymore as I still get E's)??? I just thought I would ask as I REALLY don't want to go back to school but don't want to waste a year either.... Thanks LOTS. Danni
  7. Hi I have Axolotls but am in Auckland. If nobody on here answers you could put a post on http://www.caudata.org/forum/ as quite a few New Zealanders with Axolotls belong to that site. Thanks Danni
  8. Just curious as to what eggs exactly you are putting in the incubator?
  9. Hi When I first saw this I thought people might put a nice male Siamese fighter in one I guess... Danni
  10. Sorry didn't realise you were in Wanganui. (I think it was about $15-20.
  11. Saw it about a week or two ago at Newmarket Whitcoulls....could be still there there was a few....
  12. Hi We have hooked up a large barrel outside to collect rainwater for water changes to get rid of this problem. Danni

Hi No harm to eggs but still unsure whether they will eat them. I would leave them in and see as it won't hurt. Danni

    ID please

I think you are right and they can be fed to baby Axolotls so I guess fish would be OK too.

Hi Haha. By the way I know about having all the things I also want to know as I may have to sell my Axie's anyway if I move out of home next year Thanks Danni

Hi I am contemplating selling my Axie set-up to make room for a Bearded dragon, my dream pet (only contemplating). I was wondering how much you think I could sell it for if I do? Includes: -20+ baby Axolotls of mixed colours (gold, leucstic, wild), some have front legs already, others still forming legs. -Leuka my juvie-adult wild-type Axie (nearly a year old) with nice purple-y gills. -1 Metre-long tank in good condition, no leaks but silicon edges are a tad dirty due to use, no visible scratches as far as I can see. - Nice mainly white aquarium sand with scattered black bits. - filter with spray-bar so current OK for Axie - a piece of bark and a couple of large rocks for hides - 2 fake plants - a real plant and a small one which has come off it - nice looking but unsure what it is - small bridge (decoration) - over half a kg of pellets (food) Thanks heaps! Danni
  18. Hi I have looked at pics of both on google. I am not convinced it is either as it doesnt look like glosso and has slightly longer, thinner (as in width) leaves. Also the leaves are very very thin if that helps... Thanks Danni
  19. Hi It was a little plant in this basin outside, had it for aaages, then decided to try it in tank and it GREW. Yes, lack of light as axie's don't like light, but it is much bigger than when I put it in. Do not know where it is originally from? Thanks Danni
  20. Haha thanks.... I have some better pose-y pictures somewhere...
  21. Hi. I have a plant in my Axolotl tank. Could someone tell me what it is please. The tank is (of course) cold freshwater, and this plant grows amazingly, even in low light... Thanks! Side veiw: From above: And of course Leuka JI'ing on the photoshoot...
  22. Hi OMG, my brothers have changed it to Auckland!!! I was wondering why I only had 2 pages for so long.. DAMN.. Thanks though!! Danni
