  1. you might as well get a 300 liter tank, they will outgrow a 2ft or 3ft tank in a few years and its cheaper to do it once. Filter id go with a external that can go that extra mile, they are filthy creatures so be prepared for weekly water changes of 100% hot house is good, occasional pellet and blood worms for treats temp 26-28 is good, make sure you have a heater guard as the tend to burn there feat by touching the heater element. A good uv bulb that covers the basking area and some of the water, red eared tend to bask more than other turtle species a 2-3ft bulb will do the job nicely they are wicked pets i have 5 snake necks and they are amazing
  2. they have been bread into captive conditions, they become more captive after each breeding generation.
  3. why would you want to hibernate a 4 month and 16 month old water dragon? Just a unnecessary risk
  4. age/size of the dragons, tank size, equipment used and pics please
  5. If you slow them down to a level where they cant eat then it must be low enough for them to hibernate other wise their bodies are still regulating normally. also you must not feed them 2 weeks prior to lowering the temps other wise food will rot in their track causing bacterial infections. i wouldn't bother doing it. if you keep them in a tank with water that is heated than you wont be able to do that either.
  6. why would you want to do that? are you trying to hibernate them? if your up in Auckland then you will need more than a fan to reduce the temps to about 5-7 degrees. You dont need to hibernate them, it just causes them ALLOT of unneeded stress and if your new to reptile keeping them i strongly advise against it. If you must then stop feeding them for two weeks before lowering the temps, this allows them to pass any food in their gut to stop it rooting in the track and causing infections. then reduce the temps down to around 5-7 and give them depending on the size of the dragon at least 30cm of soil/peat/clay/sand to bury into. if your water dragon is less than 3 years dont do it!!!
  7. location, location, location why is your store better than everyone else? also why does it have to only be fish>? why not reptile/bird/small animals? more money in that then just fish?

  17. I am getting three reeve turtles in the next week or two. I have 5 snake neck turtles now in a 250 liter tank (baby's) and know that I cant keep the two species together due to not being great swimmers. I am thinking about getting a large plastic container from the warehouse and housing the three reeves in there for a while until I can get a unit built for them. All i need is a basking area, heater and filter. What do you think about this for the equipment http://www.trademe.co.nz/Pets-animals/R ... 500383.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =369873531 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =370410232 For the light can I run that off a standard desk light fitting? or what would i use to power it?
