Hi all, I have a pair of angelfish who are approx 2 years old, and they layed eggs several times. They were going fine with the eggs for several days, eating the dead ones, and ate the odd fry which we think was them eating the weak ones and deformed ones. Anyway they were fine with about 20 free swimming fry, looking after them and all. At one point when they were wrigglers, learning how to swim, they were all on top of the filter (which was turned off), and then some fell off the giant cliff, down the tank, then the angels go up to them and gobble them up.... thats what i thought, 30 seconds later after he gobbles up half a dozen which all fell off the filter and cant swim, he goes back up the top of the filter and spits them all out again, and they were fine! What a good parent! But then when i woke up in the morning they were all gone. 24 hours earlier they were hanging out together fine! They had all the opportunity to eat the fry the last few days! My brother said maybe i wasnt giving mum and dad enough food, but i gave them tonnes. Anyone know why this happened? They are in a tank by themselves, so other fish is ruled out. Sadly these fish are in fact being sold to somebody, hopefully tomorrow morning, although i do have another pair of black lace angels same age who breed heeps too, maybe i can get something out of them... i thought i was actually going to have some baby fish :'( and now they are ALL gone. WHYYY!?!?!??!

...Or your fish just die. I also had 16 a few months ago, now iv only got 3. The rest of the tank is thriving without diseases. Neons drop like flies, they are not a strong fish, and dont last long, go for cardinal tetras next time.

Hey i just realised you live in beachlands w00t i live in whitford. Yea ill look into it but how the hell do you do it for a 25cm fish!!!

Its just i dont think the plants would look nice over white sand. And wont the plants be unhappy in such hard and high pH water?

What about the gravel too though. Its gonna look weird with this white as sand with plants??? What im looking for is someone to assure me that these fish are in fact interesting enough.

"Electric Yellows In A Planted Tank? (can it be done?)" Pretty much all i got to say... I saw down at animates botany here in howick they have e yellows in a bowfront tank, looks about 100 litres just a bit bigger than mine and the tank is fully planted with ambulia, indian fern, and some kinda sword plants, pretty much the same as my tank. I have been going on now to my parents and stuff for about 3 months now how im going through all this effort and stuff, to change my tank to a full on cichlid tank, i already bought the 2 different sands im mixing, and the limestone rocks, but now im thinking.... is it worth it??.... Whenever i go onto the net and look for inspiration for rockwork, i see these boring ass tanks with rocks chucked around in the tank, not looking natural at all, and millions of fish in the tank (obviously overstocked), just swimming right up the front of the tank, backwards and forwards, over and over, not actually exploring the tank and taking territories and living their life, to me i find that so boring, i want my tank to look 100% natural, with lots of action, not just boring fish swimming up the front of the tank mindlessly doing nothing. Imagine yourself living your life normally, now imagine yourself in your bedroom, pacing up and down the room, 1 million times a day, doing nothing else. Thats what i feel these fish are like. I know this sounds like a rant but i have been all up this idea of doing a makeover of my planted tank for a cichlid so i can get e yellows cos they awesome, but im not sure if there is much point, if all i will get this boring upset of a tank, that costed me a fortune. Yes fortune im 13 years old. Ok once i got typing i did have a bit more to say than just "can it be done"

mm no i dont really have a hidey hole ay. I have this massive rock maybe 50cm tall, 15cm thick and 25cm across sitting leaning in the corner of the tank which creates a hole cave for the fish to hide in if they need, but i dont think he can fit in there haha. I will try some different foods.

Ok thanks. They actually asked me what food i have for him because they dropped him off at my house, and i showed the pellets and they said that was exactly the same stuff that he used to get. After a week or more i would have thought he wouldnt be so stressed?

hes living in a 4 foot 250 litre. i know im going to get flamed for putting him in a 4 foot "HES TOO BIG" and what not from other people but the tank hes in now is over twice as big as the tank he was in 10 days ago or whatever **PS: w00t 100 posts**

Hi all. I recently just got a 25cm long pleco for free, and since i got him i have fed hin 2 standard JBL pellets a day and he knows they are there he just doesnt eat. I even put 4 in 1 night and still he didnt eat it and the other fish got to it. I dont get it cos i got a SAE and a little yellow pleco in the same tank who go crazy for the food, even the golden barbs and angelfish go down the bottom for a go. I just fed 15 mins ago, and i put 2 pellets in, 1 of which landed right on top of the pleco, just next to his cordal fin (i think its that 1 its the top fin) and after 5 minutes he still didnt move and took no notice of it. Its like hes just dead, but hes not dead i can see his mouth moving as if he is breathing, and he is moving around a little bit, not too much though. Unsure of his age, but he doesnt look sick or anything either. Whats gone wrong?

I am not sure whether or not to go through with the trade now. I will look into it more.

What about meeting in the weekend? Also do DHL take live stock? And if so if i have fragile stickers etc on the box they wont throw the package around into the truck and stuff ay?
