  1. OK. I just heard that NZ courier dont take live stock from Auckland. So how do i ship them then? And where do i get a poly box from? I have 1 here at home that i got some guppies in a long time ago but its too small for angels.
  2. If NZ courier doesnt ship from Auckland, how do Aucklanders ship fish?
  3. OK thanks all. I am in Howick, Auckland. Any more help is much appreciated, the more the better.
  4. Hi guys, i have sold 2 angel fish who are 16 months old, and i am in Auckland and they need to get shipped up to Kaitaia, so how do i ship? What company do i ship with? I have a poly box, which i can use, but apart from that idk what to do. How do i get heat packs? Theres some on TM that say they heat to 50C but that is way too hot, and how do i know how much water to use per how many heat packs. and how do i secure the fish so the bag doesnt move around too much in the box. Need help ASAP
  5. Well yes in an 8 foot, here mine is 4. The yellows have only had eggs because i dont know how to raise fry and i dont have the required equipment. Well i think iv sold them now. at least i hope so.
  6. After 3 hours of redecorating, i moved the angels into the bigger tank, within seconds while they were still in the bag the second pair, who were the original inhabitants of the 4 foot, started trying to attack the yellow angels, with little success however, so i moved the yellow angels back into their old tank....
  7. Great, Thanks i will look into it with my dad later on today. Anyone else got comments or suggestions? Thanks
  8. Ok so im trying to sell a pair of breeding angels, but so far i have had no luck. Reason for selling is i want to change 1 of my setups from a planted to a cichlid tank. Now iv already arranged all the gravel, rocks etc for the new tank, but to put all of that in and start it i need to sell my angels, because the pH will have to change from 7 to 8.2, and they are not going to happy with that, but im not having any luck selling em, so, what do people say about putting the pair i am selling (who are 15 months old btw not fully grown only like half way or something) into a 250 litre 4 foot with another breeding pair of black lace angels. They originally were all in my small tank together but then i moved 1 pair because they started fighting with the other pair, but my tank was considerably smaller than my 4 foot. So can i move the angels together into the 4 foot? If not permanently then temporarily? Also if anyone is interested in my angels its in Auckland, and they are now $35 as i need to get rid of them. They have layed eggs on a plant in the back corner of my community tank a lot. Thanks
  9. I dont understand. First you say to get 6 and then keep a male and the females and sell the other males, but then then you say not to get a male and 3 females??????????????????????????????????? I dont get it???
  10. Yeah i did think about that and it is a longshot of it ending up at 8, but if not then i can take it from there, weather it be to add some spare aragonite from my marine, or to buy more limestone, or whatever. Yes i will be sure to do the water changes, because i do understand the fact the tank is in fact a bit on the small side for these fish. Also firenzenz, not a problem about changing discussion, this is a discussion about the whole tank and peoples opinions. absolutely fine. Yeah i wasnt so sure about pH being such a biggy, but you know, i guess its just best to give the fish what they want. Can someone help me with the difference between kH, gH, dH and what they should be at, and how to get it to that level. ALSO i would like to add some red jewels, what do you guys think about a pair of them.
  11. No no im on tank water which is 7 pH and like 1 kH. So can someone help me with the difference between kH, gH, dH and what they should be at, and how to get it to that level.
  12. Wont let me search kH because it doesnt contain enough letters??
  13. Yeah i will keep an eye on it. The guy there did believe that it would work. Not sure about solids and their pHs though, but aragonite brings pH up to 8 or whatever, so whos saying limestone cant bring it down? Im just hoping it will work, also that the limestone will make the kH hard enough etc. Can someone provide some hardness measurements on what it should be? Also whats the difference between kH, gH, and dH? Thanks all!
  14. Um dont know just the guy at the shop had a big list of all the different rocks and gravels pH levels. I do believe limestone will counter it. Also the black grit is a pH of 7 which will also help.
  15. I just been to buy some, and i bought some charcoal grit, and some other white grit, both quite fine, about the same as aragonite. The grits i bought had a pH of 9.5, but i also bought some big limestone rocks which had a pH of 6, which should counter the pH, hopefully get it to about 8 ish.
  16. Hmm. Well my angels are still fs. Reevesta, i noticed ur picture is a red jewel, at least i think it is, would a pair or a single 1 of them be ok in my 90 litre tank, of course with the extensive rock work?
  17. They SUUUUURE do. So im thinking about mixing silica sand with aragonite, theres a 10 litre bucket on 'that auction site' which is silica sand and 10% aragonite, but it has been used before, so would i be good if i were to buy maybe just 2 little bags of aragonite extra and add it to that bucket, would that then be fine to keep the water hardness up in a 90 litre tank? Thanks.
  18. Yea yea i actually had a convo with my dad not long ago about asking questions on trademe, and the seller will just tell you what you want to hear, so i am bearing that in mind, but i did believe this guy he did seem genuine in what he was saying, as he helped me with quite a few things.
  19. Ok well i went to hollywood today to look at limestone and sand and rocks and stuff, and heres what i was told (ill use smily faces for bullet points. I asked about limestone, and was just told to get aragonite, wasnt told anything about actual rocks that are limestone, so im guessing i will get aragonite and silica sand to mix. I asked about mixing e yellows with kribs, and he said that e yellows can get quite territorial, so i need to get lots of rocks and make a good setup, so they can have their own territory and dont hog it up, if done so correctly, kribs will mix with yellows The e yellows will be fine in my tank, as long as the tank is not over stocked, the man suggested 2 or 3 yellows. Cichlids will only eat the plants and unroot them if they are hungry, therefore if fed regularly and arent hungry, they will leave the plants alone. This may just be pointing out the obvious to all of you, but this has opened my eyes lots, and i now know what to do. If the e yellows arent happy in the tank for their whole life, i will move them to my 4 foot, or possibly sell them again. Anyone wanna sell me some cheap dead coral rock? Thanks all
  20. I did read however that kribs were very hardy and could "live in a very wide range of water qualities" on some websites said that. So what fish can i have with e yellows, thats what im after. Once they get too big i will sell them again and buy some more babies, for the tank. I just want some tankmates. If need be even when they get too big i will move them to my 4 foot, i just dont want to turn my whole 4 foot into a cichlid tank because i grow a lot of plants in their and i sell them.
  21. Well everyone thinks that its too small for yellows. So lets just say i was a rebel and put yellows into the tank (like 3 or 4) with some kribs or something, whats gonna happen? Surely a small group is fine in a tank like that.
  22. Well i dont plan on getting a larger tank for a VERY long time, im only 13 and have a lot of fish and tanks to look after, i even just got a 120 gal marine tank, which is very time consuming and $$$ consuming. And the whole reason im starting this cichlid tank is because of the electric yellows.
