Cancelled... Won't be filling this tank

new set up new pics
Can you show a front on shot with the wood positioned like it is on the table in the first picture? Don't forget to bank the substrate to get a sense on scale

White Cloud Minnow Set-up
Thanks! This will only be a temp set-up. If I need a QT urgently, I'd use this and put the Minnows in something else. The only time I've ever used this tank was when I rescaped the 60cm

White Cloud Minnow Set-up
Minnows were my first fish... super easy to keep so will suit low tech. TBH it won't be a long term tank.... just wanted to give it go

Might as well put it to some use.....

60cm Journal
UPDATE After 2 weeks away the tank was looking really overgrown. I cleaned away a couple bits of BBA but other than that it's pretty much algae free. The glosso was about five layers so it's been given a major hack job. Looks pretty awful now, should come right in a few days...... I'm experimenting with my equipment arrangement

White Cloud Minnow Set-up
The tank is only 30L. I got the main piece on loan from SamH. The rest I found on Melons bay in Howick.

White Cloud Minnow Set-up
Back at home for a couple days so have been fiddling with the quarantine tank...... I'll attach some moss and a few small crypts. Nothing to fancy. Probably use a HOB filter and just do regular water changes to keep away algae. Still some work to do on the layout but can't wait to have minnows again....

Possible New Planted Project
Slope the back up as much as you can to create a sense of depth. Remember substrate does not keep shapes like you want it too, if you want to keep the patterns you have the best way is to use a clear plastic as a barrier between nutrient rich and aesthetic substrates. A path wide at the front winding to a thin path at the rear is the classic way to give the illusion of scale. Looking forward to hearing what your plant choice will be for your scape.

inline heaters
Nice site, couldn't find any external heaters though....
-
inline heaters
Here's a link to one http://www.aquariumguys.com/ethheater.html

inline heaters
They attach to the outlet hose on an external cannister filter. Not sure what would happen if the filter stopped for any reason.... Loads of people use them though, I'm looking at getting one once I've saved enough for my custom tank.
-
inline heaters
They are external, one less piece of equipment in the tank. Not essential really, mostly for aquascaping
-
inline heaters
Think you need to order them from overseas..... Let me know if you find any at a good price

Ooohh... Earthquake
A few beers tonight will mean I'll sleep through any quakes....
-
Ooohh... Earthquake
I've been working in Christchurch for the last couple months and I'm amazed at how casual everyone is about the quakes.... Betting on the scale etc. They feel way bigger in a tall building, it's my last night staying on the 12th floor that's for sure..... Booked into a single level motel for the next week :-?

Eliminating algae in a heavily planted aquarium
Sounds sweet The following should at least be listed: - Tank size - Lighting specs - Photoperiod - Filtration specs (including lph) - Fert routine - Plant mass Anything to add?

Nutrafin Co2 Kit - Good or Bad ?
You can pick up quality regulators from overseas websites for pretty cheap, chuck in your glassware etc and the price for shipping is well worth it... Until we get a supplier in NZ for everything anyway. !drool:

Eliminating algae in a heavily planted aquarium
Because I think there should be an algae sticky, instead of hundreds of algae threads with the same advice. Don't get me wrong... advice is what this forum is about. Lets just set some parameters so advice can be founded on something. :tears:
