  1. Sorry if i am of no help, if you find out what they are called let me know I would love to know. The world wide fish data base had nothing similar and they have every fish knowen to man including all knowen common names, but maybe they don't. 8)
  2. Sorry but this fish does not seem to exist, the closest thing that I could come up with is the Myrichthys ocellatus otherwise knowen as the goldspotted Eel. Hope this is of any help. 8)
  3. sorry- try to post image but it didn't work
  4. Are sump pumps or internal wet and drys superior to external canisters? or is building a tank with a wet back system the best? what are peoples veiws on the these systems?
  5. Fish keeping has consumed me!! Is anyone immune to this fishkeeping bug! do we all have it? Does it ever go away? or am I doomed to spend money on fish for the rest of my life? How bad can this fish keeping bug get? (I already have thoughts in my head of breeding, opening my own pet store, importing fish, building many aquariums, going to the aquarama in china, the list is endless) is this normal? Two months ago there wasn't a single thought of a fish in my head, untill we decided to get our boy a fish for christmas. We got a little 20L tank and some bits and pieces off a friend, Then we wen't looking for a fish for him. Thats when it all started. We ended up coming home with a nice little aquaone 100L aquarium. We set it up on christmas morning and after the new year we took the boy to buy some fish. We went back a week later and fell in love with a little red Oscar and some clown loaches. Two weeks later we went back again and came home with another red Oscar and a texas cichlid. We now have two tanks set up one with a beautiful little male betta and some guppies and the other with fish quickly out growing it. So now we are getting a 6 foot aquarium built for around $3 000. With plans too also build a 4 foot Marine tank. I definately have it bad, I would love to hear story's of others in the same vote. Tell us how you got started and any other storys of your journey through fish keeping, I'm sure we all would love to hear them. Is the only cure to build a 200 square foot aquarium and live in it? 8)

    hello

Hi Alisha! and welcome. Don't worry I think we all are infected by the hypnotism of the fish saying buy me! feed me! buy me some friends! and before long the whole house is full of them.

    brown algae?

Another thing that causes brown algae is sunlight, so make sure that the tank is out of the sunlight as much as possible this will also cause your fish to lose thier colour, so it's an important thing to consider when setting up a tank. And as for cleaning it up, bristlenoses are masters at this. 8)
  12. I've heard of others also doing the same thing!! Sounds like the easiest way to do it, that i've heard so far.
  13. The males are much prefered fish to females, you need to get rid of her! 8)

  16. Hey doobieboy! Welcome to the FNZAS fish forums, the people on here are great and it's good to talk fish with other hobbiests. 8)
  17. Awesome little catfish, Macka has 4 of them, a little tempramental and very expensive. I would love to get some if I could afford it! But sure they are available so just ask around! 8)
  18. Cheers Rob 8) I'll look into it and see how I get on. The fish get more variety in thier diet than i do! :-?
  19. Sounds like an idea! I have a worm compost fill of earth worms that devour our food scraps, then in turn the fish get to devour the earth worms, they love them. Would white worms survive with the earth worms or should you have them seperate? and where do you get ahold of these white worms?
  20. Man I can only dream of having a tank of those dimensions!!
  21. The more protien the better. Beef heart is one of the most common used foods for fish and it's practically 100% protien. So the guppy's should be fine. 8)
  22. Maybe if you were using the tank as a serving platter!
  23. hey Goldie!! The info you asked for is: The tank has been running for 2 1/2 months now. Everything was thoroughly rinsed before the tank was set up. I do a 20% water change weekly. The ammonia and nitrate readings are at 0 and nitrite around 30, I did have high ph readings but have managed to stabilise this to around 6.5. I have 5 healthy plants and 8 healthy fish at the moment consisting of 2 small oscars, a small texas cichlid, a small leopard spot pleco and 2 small clown loaches. The tank holds 100L and circulates 6 times an hour. And as Warren asked I have little white suspended particals in the water. If there is anything else you need to know please ask!
