ive just noticed theat some of my vt fry and one of my adults arent looking very happy,they have clamped tails. i have added some formal;n to both their tanks to see if that elps and then i will add some aquarium salt in later thisavo

cool i will look out for them if you wanted to ove the water faster you could just stick a sponge in their to soak it up?? sorry havent got many ideas on that front lol i stick with my waste of time method

i havent had this problem before...my males arent blowing bubble nests??? all the males ive owned always coat the tps of their tanks in bubbles but nothing!!!!!!!! they are all fed on the same stuff,the temp is good,the ph,nitrites,nitrates ect are all exactly the same????? any ideas?

are you going to be selling them once they have grown out? i have a black marble butterfly halfmoon female,a mustard gas male and a silvere plakat imn breeding atm :bounce:

do you have a sponge filter you can use? i always net all the babys out and clean it that way but its time consuming so i dont recommend it try using a syringe to suck the stuff off the bottem and then after cup extra water out if you need to,a sponge filter really helps keep the gunk to a minimum

i have this problem too but not on such a big scale.....where do they come from? they never seem to grow either!!!!

thats such a good idea! i have mine split like that too,exept i have a rockery edge and the sand level is raised up but i still get some sand seeping through the rock....how long can the polystyrene stay submerged?

my 2 year old son came back from a trip to his meemas (grandmas) with an early xmas pressie a black marble butterfly halfmoon betta (god what a mouthfull) she is so pwetty im going to breed her with my silver plakat halfmoon and see what i get. the guy they got her off said that she carries the butterfly strain so her bubs should be butterfly :bounce: :bounce: got photos will download them asap

are you out in the waps or in town?

take a water sample to your lfs and get it tested for phosphorous,i had exactly the same thing happen and it turned out being that,the lfs will also be able to do a larger range of tests for you,do you do regular water changes and when you add new water to you put a conditionar in?

have you considered kribs? if you are picky when choosing them you can get some beautifull colours

the male fighter i had (just died ) that i could handfeed and he was an amazing dad getting attatched to my halfoon blue/mustard gas that i just got off simian tho

i had someting similar comming out of the gill of one of my bettas,i isolated her and used aquarium salt then formalin....nothing worked and her head puffed up but she was still happy and eating then overnight it dissapeared!!!!! 2 months down the track she is happy and healthy!! im wondering if because it was so close to the head,she rubbed it off? it had the bubble and everything and the whole lot dissapeared

actually i was thinking of that,it would be easy enough because it just slides in there,if you wanted the little bays back you just slide it out and replace them with the little cubicles. the most expensive part would be getting a tank made to fit :-? ....or could just get a second unit and have that one with two or four bigger tanks in it ??

my male colours up like that during breeding and guarding fry,he gets reeeeaaaalllllyy red under his belly and chin, but then once breedings over he goes all drap again for a bit,its amazing how they can turn it on and off :lol:

yea it is an aqua one tank :bounce: i have 4 males and three females atm (betta) and trying to get hold of some more female halfmoons so there wont be room for any babies in there also going to put a couple of my dress guppy males in too if there is space because some of their tails are starting to look ratty will post a pic of it up in a min dot know about the sump idea?? could possiby i guess but would have to look at it closer first
