red jewels and kribs are good,im just trying to get my pair of red jewels to breed but the tank too crowded so have to sell some off lol

as the title sais i need to get rid of six jewels as i just dont have enough room pm me for more details guys,these are adults and ready to breed

hard boiled egg yolk is the best,once boiled,add it to some water and make it into a paste then drop a few drops into the water.

some times spine deformaties can be caused by a lack of waterflow in the tank,causing weakness or being kept too crowded,also lack of food at fry age is common

thats due to temp i cant remember the exact numbers but have a look on the net,just out of curiosity,what temp are yours on? i have a coldwater tank and a tropical tank with some in each,the tropical tank i get either heaps of one or the other,the coldwater is usually pretty even

hi guys,i always have a constant supply of fry and the easiest way i find is....once mum has had all her fry (her belly should be flat and the dark patch behind her anal fin gone) i take her out of the guppy trap and transfer the babys into a plastic travel bag wich i take to my 10l planted cold tank and leave them for roughly and hour or so to acclimatise.then tip em in and leave em lol,these guys are fine in cold water and ive never had any probs,my last lot of 32 fry i only lost two and they grow amazingly fast. i feed them crushed fish flake a bbs util they are roughly 1-1.5 cm then they go back in the big tank,i just find this way i can make sure they are getting all the food i want them too without them getting eaten

yup sometimes they manage to hide the eggs right up in the nest,look down from above you might be able to see some through the bubbles,is he showing interest in the nest? it may have just been a small lay

lol brett,yea mines in 'time out' too. he looks ok (as in not stressed)but i wince every time i look at him,think it stressed me more than him isnt it amazing how their tails grow back different colours usually? i got my blue male with nipped fins and they grew back red tipped!! then 'rags' my lilac/blue male managed to get in with 5 girls one night......which is why he is now called rags......but his tail grew back a realy light purple,see through in some places,really nice affect but wouldnt suggest sticking them in with females to get it lol i hope this new ones fins grow back fast,i got him some betta pellets to help but he hates them so im just going to keep him on live food untill he starts to look better at least.

that sponge filter ideas great,ive just tried it and its a bit hard to get the flow of water going but other than that it works fine

by the way i am very upset for him too,im not just moaning about the fact that i have to wait months to breed him,i do feel incredibly sorry for him just incredibly angry at the stupid female for one and myself for not putting the lid on the betta container,i hate putting the lids on them tho as im scared that the container will unstick from the wall overnight and sink and if they can get to the surface they will drown (i am right in thinking they get most their air from the surface arent i)

ugh is it possible to strangle a fish?! got a beautifull red male a while ago....loooonnngggg beautiful tail,been conditioning him and he was going to be bred THIS WEEKEND!!!!!! then overnight one of my females jumped into the fighter seperator i have had him in AND ATE HIS BLOOMIN TAIL OFF!!!!!!!!! he is now this little red body with a few rags out the back!!! i have treated the tank so he wont get infected but now i have to wait for the tail to grow back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my recent lot of fry are 2 weeks old and havent lost many this time,havent had to move them which might hav helped lol,colouring hasnt come out yet but the last lot of fry with these parent where a mix of reds and blues,had a couple of beautifull males dad is a blue vt with puple tips to tail mum is a deep red colour,these are my fav to breed as they get on with it by myself and the male is amazing at looking after the fry. once these guys get big enough to safetly move im breeding my combodian female with my red vt.
