how have you reared these guys (ie fed ect) im having trouble with mine for the first bit till they get old enough for brineshrimp,how often do you do water changes?

what do you find is the best to feed the fry? i feed mine microworm and then once they are big enough swap to brine shrimp,thy take ages for that first little bit of growth then once on brine shrimp they shoot up!!! is there anything else i can give them in that first bit? i have things like moss covered plants in there for them too

ok,he has started colouring up more today,their last tank cracked so i had to put them in a smaller tank till i get the new 1,so i think they a bit pissed at me lol

Homosapien's -didnt get 10 only have 2 but they are so expensive to feed I dont think I'll ever get them as a registerd breeding

i have nine red jewels,2 of them are quite inerested in each other,one has flared up bright red and the other is a duller red,almost brown? am i right in thinking the bright red is the male? also should i seperate these guys or leave them to get on with it in the big tank?

omg that first fish is beautifull! where did you get him? im looking for some new breeding stock and havent been able to find anything close to thAT YET!

it depends tho,i have just had two lots of fry and thety are in with justr the guppies and arent getting eaten lol

hi guys,im just about to put a breeding pair of red jewels in a tank,once the eggs are laid can i take the rock out and put it into my baby tank? it would save so much drama having to catch them later down the track and it would leave my breeding t ank free faster?

i tried that with my last lot of fry and it was ok becaues i only had 20ish fry,only 6 of which where boys.....this time however ive got roughly 50+

platys guppys fighters swordtail electric yellow cichlids apple snails bristlenose pleco working on the kribensis pair i have waiting for my betta fry to get bigger so i can use the tank for my red jewel cichlids

yea they all told me that too but i always saved mine,do you have a net breeder or the plastic floating guppy traps?

ok deffinatly wont be putting mine in cold water then,i didnt think it was a good idea but wanted second opinion lol. i wil have to jar my baby bettas tho at room temp soon,i will try get the warmest room in the house to do that in tho

need more space!!!! my fish breed faster than i can sell them lol,does anyone know how well bettas cope in unheated water? ive heard they dont need it but i would feel mean i have my guppys in coldwater as they seem to be fine and are busy filling it up lol

lol thanks for the tips,i had a rethink on it because its for a tank of red jewles that love kicking the bottem up,i would be cleaning sand out the filter constantly!!! im just setting up a breeding tank for them tho,might use it in there as there will only be a pair in at a time. does anyone know if once the eggs are laid i can take out the rock they are attatched to and put it in a baby tank? it saves catching the little buggers later down the track

hi guys im new to this i have a few tanks but i feel like redecorating my display tank and love the look of sand in them,can i use normal sand from mitre ten (cleaned obviously) or do i have to buy special stuff? :lol:
